It is not considered proper etiquette for a man to wear a hat inside a building.
However, times have changed. It is "probably" o.k. to wear it in a hallway, but remove it when you get the designation.
Unless...you are in school and there is a dress code. Keep the hat off unless the dress code says otherwise. Stay out of trouble....or as my dad would say "Don't go looking for trouble!"

Proper etiquette ask that males remove their hats or caps when entering a building. Females also if it is not part of the dress (Easter bonnets, Sunday Hats).

technically, a man is not supposed to wear any headgear inside a building.
(This does not apply to some men who wear head coverings for religious reasons)
