me why God couldn't have created man through evolution?
I was a little stumped on what to say except that in Genesis it says that God made man...not ape.
I haven't ever done a thorough study of Genesis so I want to research her question before I give her an answer.
Serious answers pleeeze. Thanks!

I do not believe in evolution but need more info like the books that Lee Stobel has written....
Thanks, Servant!

elmjunburke, I will agree with you that I have not done a thorough study of evolution. That is why I am asking questions and doing research. I have always believed in Creationism and always will but I do not know how to explain my belief....that's where studying comes in.
Finding an answer for her will not only hopefully help her but also help me!

MNL_1221,
Whoops...I didn't mean that God didn't create ape, just that He created man and ape separately. Thanx for pointing that out.
My neice is going to be 15 soon.

because evolution is cruel way for a species to be created - one beating out the other until the other all dies off - this also is not in Genesis as you said but then you can tell her how 'evolution' is not proven - today we see species diversification - all cats came from a similiar cat years ago but cat always bears more cats never another animal
if she is old enough which it sounds like she is - Lee Stobel has written books for this subject and others for 8-12 year old

Your niece asked an intelligent question.

Did you really tell her that God didn't create apes, or was that a typo on your part? Genesis says that God created everything and everyone.

Here's what I would have said:

"Whether by evolution or by a literal six-day miracle, God created. God is capable of evolving one species into another if he wants to. Indeed, there is some evolution within a species; think of the woolly mammoth and the elephant. In fact, I've heard that the pattern of creation outlined in the theory of evolution matches the pattern of creation in Genesis 1.

"However, Genesis 2:19 states that God made all the animals out of the ground. This implies strongly that he didn't evolve one species out of another. Genesis 2:6 says that God formed the man out of the ground. This refutes the idea of human beings evolving from apes. Yes, we are very similar to apes, just as horses and donkeys are similar and just as dogs and wolves are similar. This doesn't mean that they evolved from each other."

BTW, how old is your niece? Adjust the above reply to what is appropriate for her age.

Smart niece...

Why couldn't God create man through the microwave? (sorry, its not in a rude tone really)... What I'm saying is that everything possible through God- she's right!

But fact is fact and truth is truth.

Truth is that evolution has never been proven, its been debunked for a long time. Every scientist on higher levels of science. I.E. people who understand superstring theory know its primitive science.

Your high school teachers, humanity professors, and basic levels of science believe in evolution- and yes I too believe in evolution, micro-evolution which happens everyday. One specie only stay on their plat though. Never out of survival of fittest do they all of the sudden fly or able to live in the sea.

No connection between ape fossilization and human have been found. You would think that there would be one that has been found but no linking evidence have ever been found.

They did get caught once when they tried to prove that embryos from every species do look the same. They argued therefore evolution is a fact but after independent examination- all embryos looked similar but they are all completely different when you look at the real pictures instead the fake found in most science books.

They keep finding one that is closer and closer but the holy grail of evolutionary man has ever been found.

Encourage your niece to continue asking questions! She's bright!

Oh child of great faith. You REALLY expect a serious answer here??

All scientific thought is an interpretation of what observed facts can be gleaned from what is here now. The following fits the facts also.

God created man. The remains of large persons with a cranial capacity greater than any humans today but otherwise completely human characteristics have been found. They were called Cro-magnon (1)
Present theory explaining the relationship of other primates (chimps, gorillas, orangutans) requires recombinant DNA to suggest that man came from apes. "Recombinant DNA is DNA that has been created artificially. DNA from two or more sources is incorporated into a single recombinant molecule." (2) Notice the word artificially. The reason we are different from apes by the evolutionary explanation is because they have two DNA strands that are the same as one of ours. For us to come from them the strands in their DNA would have had to some how in sufficient numbers simultaneously to create a new species. The mechanism for that in the natural world is hard to define. However for them to come from humans would require nothing more than a burst of radiation cosmic radiation or a poison in the environment that caused the DNA to break in a small population (more than one individual) Draw your own conclusions.

Buff, you haven't done a thorough study of Gensis ???? You also haven't done a thorough study of evolution. If you had, you would know that anyone who has studied evolution would never claim that humans evolved from apes.
I've explained this a hundred times in the last couple of months, so I won't do it again now. Grab the book Origin of Species by Charles Darwin.

She asked a very good question.

i don't think that science and religion are neccesaily contradictory.

Genesis actually has two creation stories--the seven day story is one, and the adam and eve story is another. There are stories that tell us something about the meaning of life from the vantage point of our ancient forebearers.

Science is about the mechanics of life. One can get much value out of Genesis and still believe in evolution, which claims that Apes and Humans came from a common ancestor, not that we came from apes.

your neice is on a great journey of discovery. Be honest with her, and encourage to read as much of both science and religion as possible so she'll have even more questions to ask!

Reading and studying the Bible is the best source. Genesis said GOD CREATED it does not say, He created an animal and then the animal evolved into a human. God created the heavens and the earth. Man was created in the image of God. Keep reading God will reveal His truth to you.

I have thought that to God all creatures were clay or dirt so even if he did take and make a man out of an ape it would still be the same as making man out of dirt. We also have to take into account why he made the animals and that was to try to keep man happy but, animals alone couldn't do that so I was thinking that in his attempt to make man happy and not being lonely he made an ape that he thought would be very close to mans make-up to be company for him but, it was not close enough so then he decided to make a woman.

Tell her God had to make the original because that science soup had to come from somewhere and someone. Matter does exist. Starting up life is something man cannot do even today. There is life in the blood and God is life. So God started life. Also this universe if so fine tuned that random chance doesn't even make good sense.

There is no evidence that man evolved from apes. We were created in God's image, So Adam and Eve looked just like us and were created the way Genesis describes it. That doesn't mean that there hasn't been all sorts of creatures that were very similar to man. There is evidence of that. But modern man did not evolve from apes, or fish or birds, or anything like that. If that had happened, I believe we would have found fossil evidence of the actual evolution. And quite simply, we never have.
