Sure why not? The Daytona 500 is pretty much a wild card race that anybody could win.

There has to be a lot of things going his way.
Good car
Good driving skills
Good pit crew
Being its The Daytona 500 first race of the season.
Most rookies have never been in a car that goes that fast with 43 other guys inches from each other.
Is it possible...sure
Probable.... no

I think it could happen, but he would have to know the track from say a Busch car or a Supertruck. He'd also have to be used to a Nextell Cup car and have at least been in a few races before Daytona. Given the right car, a good team driving skills and luck, I think it could be done though. I think it's been done in the 60's and 70's.

maybe it depends on the class and how good they run. and the Daytona 500 also takes practice with other drivers tring to help you in the last lap. because if the draft comes to you. you have a better chance of winning the 500

That's the beauty of motor sports! Anybody has the chance to win. If the cards are right, the stars are aligned and every member of the team does their job to perfection! Who's going to be a rookie next year? Danika? Sam Hornish Jr? Kannan? Schumacker???

I think Denny Hamlin could have done it last year. He did win the Shootout so it is possible. They just need an awesome rookie in a car. Who knows it could be very soon in the future.

If everything went his way. I think he would more than likely have to be on one of the major teams in NASCAR with a history of a good restrictor plate program (Hendrick, Roush, Gibbs, DEI, Yates, or Childress.) I think for a rookie to do it would have to be someone special though because for someone to hold off 42 veterans in one of their first races would be amazing. I think it can be done, but not probable.
