As the matter of fact, it's a biological impossibility. On the verge of loosing consciousness, you loose the rational control over your body and the reflex makes you breathe in. You can't kill yourself by suffocating yourself like that.
I have a friend who seriously tried.

I used to be able to make it to 2 min.
Last time I tried I got a little over 1 min, I was very disappointed.
