I defrosted chicken and started to marinade it Wed or Thursday night last week. It’s been marinating in the fridge since then. Do you think it’s still ok to BBQ?

My guess would be ...no. I say this because chicken should not be left unfrozen for too long without cooking. You have to be careful with chicken.

I wouldn't because bacteria can grow on chicken faster than you can say "salmonella".When I marinate food
I only let them absorb for at most 10 hours. Just to be safe I would lose the money for the chicken and marinade instead of someones lunch. But if you want an expert opinion, it really depends on the marinade your using. If you were using alot of pineapple or orange or tomato, the acids would help preserve the chicken for a bit longer. If it is a very sweet marinade, toss it.

A marinade is a preservitive if the chicken has only been in your fridge for four days it is perfectly fine. Be sure to cook it to 165 degrees. Doing so will kill off any harmfull bacteria that did grow. And just so you know all meat grows bacteria on it no matter how fresh it is.

No, throw it away.
Better to lose the cost of the chicken than a couple of days in bed with food poisoning.
Uncooked chicken should not be held in the refrigerator more than 48 hours. Cooked chicken should not be held in the refrigerator more than 72 hours. And chicken should not be marinated more than a few hours.

I'd toss it. The point of marinating things is that it tenderizes them. If there's any acid in the marinade at all, the chicken will probably be complete mush at this point.

When in doubt, throw it out. This is the motto of the professional cook/chef. Food can be stored in the fridge COVERED, for no more than 3 days.
