thumb_this_down i am a Mormon and my family has been for generations on one side and just shortly on the other side. so i think that i would know a lot more about Mormon history and doctrines than you would. first off we didn't stop practicing polygamy because it is illegal. we stopped because it was revealed that we should stop. and we never have believed African American people are or were devils. so you should not talk because you have been sadly misinformed and i suggest you make sure you know what your talking about before you say it or else you'll make a fool of yourself again.

I hate no one other than my own sinful nature.

Not all persons (believers and non-believers) who post to this Forum are intolerant or hate-mongers. And judging by some of their written words, some self-professed Christians seem to have wandered away from the “love thy neighbor” reservation.

Please don’t make the mistake of extrapolating the behaviors in this Forum by some persons as representative of the populations of believers or non-believers. What you observe herein is a social aberration of the real populations of these groups. It is both interesting yet sad to see how some will behave when hiding behind the anonymity of the computer.

Why persons think that the anonymity of this Forum grants them a license to ignore common social graces bewilders me. I suspect that these persons would be truly ashamed if they knew their parents, husband, wife, children, etc., learned of some of the things they write herein. Clearly they do their loved ones a disservice and dishonor them with such behavior.

One can carefully study the doctrines and theologies of the Mormon beliefs (see sources below), and can then form their own conclusions. I see no issue with someone objectively stating their opinions if they are based on a rational analysis of the issues. I have carefully studied Mormonism, met with many Mormons here in Arizona, and read all of materials held sacred by Mormons for over ten years.

In the final analysis, I have found the non-Christian religions, such as Mormonism, to be philosophically indefensible, being internally incoherent or undermining human reason and experience.

If you are confident enough in your own beliefs, then you will have no problem with reading some other analyses of your faith, such as the items shown below.

Mormonism Summary:

Is Mormonism Christian?:

There are many members of religious groups that have staked their eternal souls on their beliefs without searching the scriptures and reviewing the doctrinal writings of church leaders to satisfy themselves that what they have been told is sufficiently rational and worth believing. Don’t let yourself be one of these persons. Ask your ward leadership about the things that you have read above. See if they are willing to enter into an honest and frank discussion about these matters versus telling you to avoid readings outside of your own faith. If they do the latter, such a dismissal of honest inquiry should be an alarm bell for you.

Hate is a strong word. Are people showing you hatred? It's too bad if they are...Jesus teaches us to love God the Father with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength...and to love one another. Those are the two greatest commandments.

Perhaps you've been miss-lead and it's not hate but concern? Is that possible?

I don't "hate" you. I don't even know you.

I will admit that I don't understand your religion or why Mormons need an additional guide book when the Holy Bible clearly lays out the road to salvation. It is a gift from the living God, so that no man can boast. I also don't understand why Mormons are taught that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are three separate Gods when in the Holy Bible, it is clearly laid out that they are one. I guess, you could say...I'm little confused about your religion.

What is even more interesting is why Rev. 22:18-19 isn't taken seriously by Mormons?

You mentioned that Mormons don't practice polygamy, however that is a sect that broke away from the LDS church in SLC, their compound is on the UT / AZ border and they practice it.

I mean no disrespect to you or any other Mormon.

If you can clarify any of this, it would be great.

Thanks!

Brutus, it isn't a matter of "hate", more a matter of how they believe what they believe. A little digging will reveal that their belief in Jesus is not exactly what the Bible has to say. In such questions as this, one needs to look closely at wording, and the structure of the wording. While a sentence may sounds like it supports a certain idea, it really does not. There is a book that was in print a few years ago called "The Kingdom of the Cults". I suggest that you find a copy and read it. I believe that you'll find that the Mormon religion is just not the "Christian" religion that many believe it to be.

I don't hate the LDS people. I wish I could show each one of them the things that I have discovered in the Bible, that clearly show how wrong their doctrines are, and hopefully bring them to the real Jesus.
The religion on the other hand is a different matter. I hate how it destroys lives. I hate how it makes people act when they learn that a friend or loved one has left the church. I hate how people lose their families, friends, jobs, and homes just because they've learned the truth about Mormonism and leave the chruch. When you leave the LDS church you have no where to go. A lot of people become an atheist. They were told that the LDS church was the only true church, when they learn that the church isn't true they give up on religion altogether.

I don't hate Mormons, but I can name a few of the reasons and mormon beliefs people are uncomfortable with:

- The Book of Mormon: The bible is controversial enough, but the Mormon church added an additional book with even more rediculous claims based on some guy crawling out of the woods saying, "Guess what I saw!" and repeating it with his face in a hat!
- Magic Underwear
- Becoming the dieties of other planets
- God has a wife
- Mormons USED to be polygamists. The only reason they no longer are is because they wanted Utah to become a state, and statehood would not be granted w/o banning polygamy. I guess at that moment, God changed his mind.
- Only "people who leave the Mormon church" can go to hell
- Mormons can only marry other Mormons...otherwise they won't go to heaven together.
- Door to door preaching
- No caffiene, no drugs, no gambling...yet most of Las Vegas is financed by Mormons.

Anywhoos, I dated a Mormon for a couple years, and have some Mormon friends. Nice enough people...but many find some of those beliefs very wierd.

When comes to the mormon church. I'm againt the
doctine nota the people. I love the mormon people with all my heart. Because Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins. I was member, born in the church. in the Jounral of Discoures has alot of information. Read church doctine by Bruce R Mconkie. Says that church still belives in polygamy. It will be practice in the next life. It was stop 1904. . . but 1890 told the government that stop it. Not true. Read also the reedsmoot testmonies of people said the polygamy was still being practice.

Just because someone opposes their beliefs doesn't mean that they hate them.

I don't believe that God has a wife or that the elect Mormons will become gods in heaven.

Yes, Mormons did believe in polygamy and the only reason it isn't practiced now is because it's against Federal laws. They also use to believe that Blacks were of the devil.

So, you need to look into the background of the Mormon faith. It seems you don't know much about it.

All I can say is that their like a gang. I live in a small town with alot of mormons in it.recently our mayor got caught trying to sell off a part of the city .now he can do that if you go through proper channels which he didn't.he and the city councilman that were in cahoots ran for office and won. My point is that their are to many of them to make for change and that even the mormons who are honest voted them in just because of thier relationship to them. So they have total control and can't be stopped. Hell even the cops in town ( 3 ) are mormons. I can't stand them and I hate dishonest people

The entire Mormon system is based in the revealed writing of one man, Joseph Smith. The Book of Mormon has been proven incorrect by archaeologist, anthropologist, and Bible scholars. Mormons say that God is a material creature who once a man as we are now. They say men can finally achieve godhead throuh works and that there are many gods. They have "new Scripture' and the writings of Joseph Smith. They say Salvation comes by works and men will spend eternity on some level of a multistoried heaven.
