Is Satan capable of masterful deception? If so, couldn't he have been Jesus, just to throw you off?

Great question! No it could not have been Jesus because while Satan is capabale of masterful deception, Jesus is able of great love that Satan would not be able to show....deceit or not.

However, this theory applies directly to that of the Antichrist that was mentioned in the New Testament, as well as other religious texts..

"Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, … Don't let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed , the man doomed to destruction. Yes in fact Satan is described as a deceiver and he always disguises himself as an angel of light but he really is an angel of darkness and he couldn't be JESUS because he tried that before and that's what got him kicked out of heaven.
