Every organism on this planet is considered atheists, except humans when they are formally or informally introduced into any religion when their thought process advances. We humans are unique when it comes to theism.

Atheism wouldn't exist if everyone simply stuck to reality rather than religious delusion.

So technically no, since there can never be such a world where everyone was atheist. Not because people have to believe in god but because if everyone had no belief in god there would be no reason to label non-belief in the manner that we have in a world filled with god-belief. Theism and atheism are dyads. One is dependent upon the other to give it meaning.

Example of other dyads.
Up and Down
Without "up" there is no "down". Don't believe me? Go out into the depth of space and tell me which way "down" is.

I Love God, I think that everyone should believe whatever they want and only hand out advice on religion when it is solicited. I just try to live as a good example of my personal beliefs and in doing this I am not hurting anyone. Besides, if everyone became Atheist, there would not be anyone on this site!

Consider the following:

- all the holy books will fall further and further behind in their moral lessons as society evolves, see the current homosexuality controversy
- as science advances there will be less and less 'gaps' to hide god in
- rising education standards and better standards of living/hygiene will mean less superstition

I think eventually faith will be pushed into the deist ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deist ) corner, and organised religion doesn't stand a chance. Not that it won't take an aeon or so.

So I'm not saying 'should' although my private opinion would be that no religion means one less thing to hate and kill each other over (note: that leaves many things) but I think eventually it will be the majority view. But that is the many-many-generational view.

No, just those who feel most comfortable with it. For some of us it just doesn't fit anymore than Christianity or Islam or Paganism, depending on the person in question...Religion or lack there of is personal...The only time it becomes a problem is when someone wants everyone to believe that their way is the only way...

Yes! but don't be a mindless one.

Many tend to believe every theory without investigation. But if you look into proves then I believe you'll find that it takes a lot more faith to believe God doesn't exist rather than the fact that He does.

I don't really care what other people believe so long as they don't kill people because of it or try and force me to believe what they do. If someone wants to believe in god/s or other supernatural things, more power to them. Just keep it out of the government and the schools and I'm a happy camper!

No, not everybody. Imagine how some people would behave without their silly book to guide them . We'd probably have to build huge stockades to protect our families against the hoards of pillaging ex-Christians who would completely lack any real moral principles. Without their favorite God to fear, who will protect us from all the people who never learned to think for themselves?

No, why should they? It limits diversity and belief. Futhermore, I think that being able to believe in something you can't completely understand is a wonderful and open-minded thing.

maybe coz then people would stop using that annoying word.
Its only a good idea if it is voulantary and everyone can agree, I think some people would loose their motivation to be nice, as they have always relied on heaven as a reward.
