Science gives me a kind of spiritual wonder.
Seeing tiny stars in a large sky is one thing, but understanding their origin is even more inspiring:
Science shows us an awesome universe. We're on a planet in a solar system on the spiral arms of the Milky Way Galaxy, among 400 billion other stars, 500 billion estimated planets, and 100 billion galaxies of similar size. The universe is over 13.7 billion years old, far more ancient than any human civilization or even our star.
So yes, you could say that I'm spiritual when I think about the stars, but not religious.

Perceiving the divine in nature is known as the teleological argument. Its main argument is that there is so much order in the universe, that things like the stars the earth etc. All these things point to the existence of God and can bring us closer to God.
I personally believe that the earth is a beautiful jewel, and like any beautiful jewel in order to enhance its beauty it is set with other stones. The earth is the centre, about it float as the beautiful jewels smaller, and around them and a myriad of diamond points. In other words I think that the planets the sun and the moon and all the stars are there to enhance the beauty of earth.

When I look at a starry sky, I am not seeing what is there right now, but what was there ages of light-years ago. It takes so long for the light of a star to reach me that I am actually looking at another time. And since all stars are different distances away, A night sky is all the times that ever were, from the beginning of time itself, all before my eyes at once.
We are told that God sees all time as if it were all present to him at all times. It is hard, sometimes, for my human brain, trapped in my own little present bit of time, to comprehend this. When I see it there before me in the sky, I feel for a moment as if I do understand a bit.
I think God lets us have the stars as a gift, a little preview of what it will be like to get out of time and see clearly, all at once. I think of eternity, every time I see a night sky.

I have a story about the stars and my beliefs. Several years ago I was working on a survey of the bird life on a ranch in central Texas. We were out at night looking at the stars. There was very little artificial light and it was amazing. I was looking through my spotting scope and the hugeness was overwhelming. I turned to one of my companions, grinned ear to ear and said "THIS is why I DON'T believe in God". The arrogance of man to think that he is the center of the universe is incredible.

Yeah, always have.
Did you know that the best thing to observe stars at night is Binoculars!
One with big lenses in front. Lets in alot of light. Magnification not so good at times (telescopes).
There is a galaxzy called the snowball.
Very small, looks like snowball, yet with those binoculars, you can see inside of it.
And to think, thousands of lightyears across.
Yep, I get spiritual when I see stuff like that.
Ditto................

I feel that we live in an awesome, terrifyingly HUGE place. I wonder if we're alone - how it could be possible that this one planet is the only place life thrives. I don't need the stars to help me "feel spiritual" - I am a woman of abiding faith - yet the stars do encourage me to consider my place in this enormous universe.

Great question...when i look up at the stars, the moon, or see a rainbow, i am so in awe of my creator...and i think of the time God said to Abraham, look up and count the stars, this is the number of your descendants..and everything is suspended in total balance...

I love the stars. It makes me feel so little and insignificant because i remember there could be so much "stuff" out there. Puts me in a philosophical mood.
