It depends on the people. There's a couple I know who's been in a relationship for five years and they're still on opposite ends of the country. But if you truely love the person, it can work out.

I think it depends on how long the distance is. My boyfriend and I live kind of far away from one another, and we usually only see each other once every few weeks. Sometimes he'll come up for a weekend, or ill go visit him for a weekend. We've been doing this for two years now and it has been working out quite well. I miss him all the time, but it is worth it every time i get to see him. And I know when we finish school we will be able to be together every day, so that makes it worth it. I think if we were reaaaaally far away though, I wouldnt be able to handle it.

*I am going to have to say NOOO, unless the two partners are entirely super committed to each other. Then there is no way, because you never see each other, there is little to no sex involved (phone sex does not count folks!).
*I just have not had the pleasure of a long distance relationship working, and it sucks.

Not mine. It was fine for a couple years, until I wanted to move in with him, or at least be in the same state. But he didn't want to move out of his mother's house, and he didn't get a job until after I'd broken up with him. He still lives in that house and is still a bag-boy to this day...

No they don't. There just is not any substitute for spending face to face time with someone. Dating requires that spontaneous time spent together doing things. Email/Texting/IM won't let you experience that together.

No ... how can you expect to devote yourself to someone you almost never see? If you can see each other four times a month it might work out.

No they don't.

If you are contemplating one, understand that you are setting yourself up for a fall. No matter how hard you try, you will not be the exception to the rule.
