House #1: A 20 room mansion + 8 bathrooms, pool, pool house and guest house heated by natural gas. Monthly utilities on this house run approx $2400, more energy than most homeowners use in a year. In natural gas alone, it uses 20 times what the average American home uses.
House #2: Is a 4 bedroom house of approx 4,000 sf, nestled in the high prairie. A central closet holds geothermal heat pumps drawing water through pipes sunk 300 ft into the ground. The water (@67 degrees f) heats the house in the winter and cools it in the summer. The system uses no fossil fuels and consumes 25% of the electricity required for conventional heating/cooling. Rainwater from the roof is funnelled into a 25,000 gal cistern. Water from the sinks, baths, etc goes into underground purifying tanks and also into the cistern and is used to irrigate the land surrounding the house.
House #1 owned by Al Gore.
House #2 owned by George Bush.
Astounding.

It's fascinating, but it still doesn't change the fact that Bush has crappy environmental policy, and that things are still going downhill.
Plus Al Gore probably offsets his emissions with carbon credits. Though that doesn't excuse massive consumption.
Though I'm sure if Bush had a house in the middle of a city, instead of a ranch, he'd probably run it all off the grid too.

what is the point of your show of facts relating to Bush and Al Gore ,
i dont understand it .one has to be an example to be effective .like Jesus .one cannot be rich and still try to do something positive ,it only counts if you become poor first
you are rediculous.
i tell many kids not to smoke ,drink ,be moral dont use drugs ,does this mean that i cant do any of that .if it is i will stop telling kids these things .
the Rolling stones give concerts for famine and starving kids ,does this mean they have to starve first themselves other wise their money is not good
who cares what Al Gore is ,or how much money he,s got or what his motives are, what kind of house he ,s got ,these are all totaly irrelevant issues,he could be a gay multimillionaire killer clown for all i care .
what he does for the good of the planet is the only thing that matters ,from an environmental point of view.
And if that is possitive ,if his power and connections can iniciate some actions that will make a difference for the good of All,for the good of the planet then he is OK in MY book
this is the real issue at hand
as far as Bush is concerned listen to sarahf

The Gore place is old the Bush place is brand new....so what!
I would ask you the question which one of the two have the future of the US in the best interest?
Dick Cheney lives in a 35 million dollar mansion that is totally alternative fuel decked out (It is also new, money provided by Haliburten after he left the first Bush cabinet); And my point is he tells America to not conserve and pushes for cuts in alternative energy programs so that only the rich have access to them.

You are correct, but did they tell you that most of the electricity is solar power? Did you know that natural gas burns clean? Did you know that Al Gore contributes and helps fund-raise over 100 million dollars a year for environmental studies? How much does King George raise?
Al Gore may USE 60% more power than the average American every year, but he MAKES 748% more in environmental contribution than the average American too.
Now, go smack yourself silly and go sit in the corner. You conservatives rally make me gack sometimes.

so living in a house is the sole justification for being an environmentalist right?
What a crock! Who invaded Iraq? Who is a billionaire, money which is / was derived solely from the fossil fuel industry? Who WILL NOT sign Kyoto?? Who has the interests of his mates in the oil and vehicle industries at heart when he says that signing Kyoto would be bad for the US?
Who rigged the last election so that he'd remain in power? Did he cause the house to be built and actively included the features you mentioned? I highly doubt it.
Wake up. Bush is a killer. Nothing more, nothing less. And you poor bastards actually want him as your leader! makes me sooo glad to be an Australian!!!!

You're right, but it doesn't matter to you. Global warming is not about Al Gore's personal life.
Global warming is about the science and the data. And those say it's real and a major problem. That's pretty important for you.

This would be great, if only I cared. You see, for the lucky few of us who actually care about the *science* behind global warming, what Al Gore had for dinner last night is entirely inconsequential. Apparently the only people who care about this rubbish are Rush Limbaugh and his cronies.

Do you have a source for your info?
Personally, I don't think either of them are an "environmentalist." I don't think either of them live a true eco-friendly lifestyle. They probably both have more than one house (not counting the white house since its temporary w/ the job)
