Are you a safety expert? I'm going to guess you're not.
The exterior damage is a sign of it absorbing impacts. If there is no absorption of kinetic energy, it will be passed to the frame of the car then to the driver. Ever seen someone seriously injured when their car was not? Hmm....

this cars are not safe. 2 races and 3 drivers with burns. If the cars look that bad after hiting the wall at short tracks just image what they will look like after hiting the wall at bigger tracks where the spees are alot faster. i was listening to a raido show put on by nascar and they where talking to drivers that got in accidents and they all said they dont think this cars are any safter then the old ones. They said that when u hit the wall u dont feel the impact as much but the car falls apart way to much for a little hit and there worried about the bigger tracks.

The more that falls away the more energy absorbed and less injury to the driver.
2 races does not prove the worthyness of this car.
I think NASCAR should go back to getting sheet metal from the auto factories not from a roll of steel.
That's all I have to say about that.

You can do everything possible in the world. The COT wont prevent a death at all. The odds will more than likely improve you come out of the wreck uninjured, let alone live.
You have to understand, driving 3,600+ cars at 200 mile in hour, something could happen.

It's not the outside that protects, and if the car falls apart there is less resistance for the driver. And the car is still in trial stages, be assured that they will tweek it as they see fit. Sr. would probably still be here if they would have mandated the hans before his death. They do their best to make the sport as safe as possible.

I think your an idiot... Yea the front of it folds up easier, but thats less energy impacting the driver. As for the burns everyone keeps talking about, thats a totally different thing and nascar is working to fix it...

Well there's always a chance, and Brian Vickers did get burnt at Bristol. I really don't know the saftey factors, maybe it falls apart on the outside easily but we don't know what the inside's like. They haven't had to use the jaws of life yet. but Bristol and Martinsville are short tracks where very large accidents don't really happen.

I'm glad you are looking out for the future of the drivers. maybe you haven't heard they are improving the safety every day, you don't think that many of the nascar drivers lost their live one too many
you are an IDIOT i hope some people agree W/me

The car is a safety improvement. The car itself gets damaged more easily, but the person inside is safer.

Stop crying about the COT's! Just because your driver can't drive it doesn't mean it's bad.
Get a new driver! Cuz the car ain't goin' away!
