Well without having to purchase Microsoft PowerPoint you can down load the viewer. It will not allow you to create PowerPoint presentations but you can display them. The only free option would be to install OpenOffice which has a form of power point called Impress. The first link is Microsoft Power Point viewer the second is the link to Open Office.

Try Open Office, this is a better, free alternative to Microsoft Office (which is not free). Included is an Open PowerPoint just like Microsoft PowerPoint.

PowerPoint comes with the standard edition of Microsoft Office or the Student version... you can buy the student version for a greatly reduced price (normally sold at your school book store or coupons available or a website).

You can buy it
you can get a pirated (stolen copy)
or you can use http://openoffice.org
if you opt to use Open Office (for free)
make sure you choose SAVE AS and pick a Microsoft File Extension. so that the school computer can read the file.

You can buy it from Microsoft.

Or you could get OpenOffice.org for free from http://openoffice.org/ - its mostly compatible with PowerPoint. Make sure you save your documents in Powerpoint format (rather then the default OpenDocument format) if you want to view them in PowerPoint.
