I have this problem too, especially when only one window is rolled down. It has to do with how your ears react to wind. A lot of wind and your ears will compensate to balance the pressure change, while a little wind that only affects your ears sporatically will not trigger the pressure change response. It annoys the heck out of me, so whenever I drive with my husband I tell him to either have the window open or shut, not that stupid inbetween place.

u wont pass def. and till u have an fairly loud device and hear it at very extreme quantity for long sessions of time u gets worse ear harm. extra desirable than in all probability u wont have it consistently blasting via fact there are not many songs that r basically on the instant bass. all in all u would be basically effective. and if it became uncomfortable, y would u get a device thats as loud as ur coaches???? basically get some thing that has some good thump, and not some thing thats gunna beat down ur block!

I don't know, but my husband & 2 teenage daughters are always saying it hurts their ears! I don't feel anything different. They say it makes some kind of sound too, but I can't hear anything different! What kind of car do you have? Mine is a 2006 Honda CRV. I don't remember them having that problem in my old mini van.
