I, too, am outraged! Clearly done by an overzealous ignorant lot. I am Catholic and I am well aware that the Jews were and STILL ARE in a very valid and valuable covenantal relationship with G-d. Neither Jesus nor Paul changed or lessened it. Shame on those who seek to convert you!

My friend was telling me about this. She's not jewish but she received something very similar in the mail. At first glance it looks like a pamphlet from the local synagogue (I thnk i spelled that wrong ;-S), but it wasn't. It was from some christain church trying to convert the jewish. I'm not even jewish and I find this insulting, the really funny thing is, is that my friend said she would have probably read the pamphlet if it was sent by the jewish community and not by some group of christians trying to convert others.
I have no idea why people can be so rude and inconsiderate of other beliefs like this. And christians wonder why they are always being bashed - well if they act like this, I can see why they are bashed as often as they are for their beliefs.
Why can't we all just accept each other for what we are?

Perhaps they were a bit overzealous.
As a people God chose the Jews so that His majesty and glory would be made manifest to the rest of the world. The first Christians were Jews, and the spread of Christianity in its early days was primarily due to messianic Jews. In fact, all the authors of the Christian bible, save one, were Jews who lived in the days before the Second Temple was destroyed in 70 CE.
But, like all other peoples, they (the Jewish people) are held to the same standards that God holds all peoples to. The Jew must acknowledge Christ as their means of reconciliation with a just God.
If Jesus did not fulfill biblical prophecy, if he is not the promised Messiah of Israel, if he was not born of a virgin, if he did not die for the sins of the world and rise from the dead, if he is not coming back as King of all kings to rule and reign here forever- then he is the Messiah and Savior of nobody. He is a false prophet and the writers of the New Testament were either deceivers or deceived. In other words, if Christ is not the Messiah of the Jews then He is not the Savior of the Christians.

It's bothersome to Christians that Jews won't accpet their own Messiah.
I mean think about it - isn't that a bit of a sticky wicket to their whole religion? The chosen people not accepting their own destiny?
Christians think that Jews are just stubborn and if they read the OT the way the Christians do (such as seeing Isaiah 53 as about Jesus) they'll realize the error of their ways. So Christians spend their time trying to instruct Jews on the ways of reading the OT - and trying to proof that Jesus was the Messiah throw Jewish scriptures.
Don't take it personally. I stopped getting offended long ago. Instead - think of it as an act of kindness no matter how misguided. They are attempting to save you from hell.

Baptists are an Evangelical sect of Christianity, who believe it their duty to spread the Gospel (a word meaning "good news," chiefly what Christians call the New Testament) to those who haven't heard it, or who have heard it and don't accept it. There is also a scriptural admonishment to preach "first to the Jews, then the Gentiles," since Christ is said to fulfull the role of Messiah, hence the savior of the Jews, and by extension the world, as the Jews are the ones chosen by God (the "Chosen People") to bring His people to Him.
Not all Christian sects are as gung-ho (or annoying) as the Baptists when it comes to evangelizing.

They do not understand. This is no reason to hate them. Rather they need to be properly educated regarding this and how it makes them appear. Hating Christians is not the way. Just as so-called Christians hating Jews is not the way either.
My church does not canvas. However, when a nearby synagogue was firebombed, our church rushed to the aid to help rebuild. The rabbi and our pastor were standing next to each other watching the rough framing being done. The rabbi said, "I don't know what to do now, we have been taught for so long to hate you."
Actions speak far better than words--or invitations in the mail.

Pay it no mind. Nobody ... can convert anybody else. It is an action from on high. It's an individual thing. Not a ' Join Up' campaign.
Truth resides only in the scripture. Not in man. There's plenty good record what we're all fully capable of, if the history books are any indication. And on into scripture!
( Hope this helps. )

I'll tell you why. There's a verse in the Bible where Jesus says that his followers are to spread his word and become fishers of men. And this has become so crazy, with all the fundies. I do believe christians believe that Jews can no longer get close to G-d or feel His presence, or even be forgiven of their sins properly, because they rejected Jesus. That's what my christian friend told me. Sad, eh?

Believers in the two faiths will evidently see their ideals and tenets as suited and the others as incorrect. the glaring progression of that seems to be to objective and persuade others that your ideals are the main appropriate ones. I have not any issue with preachers of any faith as long as they are in a position to appreciate human beings's ideals and that they are in a position to take it gracefully whilst human beings tell them they are no longer fascinated. To a Christian it could be incorrect to bypass against Christian ideals yet on the grounds that they do no longer value Jewish ideals or do no longer see any contradiction (in case you view christ through fact the jewish messiah) they might see no longer something incorrect in somebody breaking them to become a Christian. I think of to an quantity it quite works the two procedures in that whether Judaism would not seek for converts as Christianity does, i do no longer think of a Jew might see something incorrect in a Christian renouncing faith in christ to become Jewish.

I'm a Jewish/Christian (didn't know for sure I had Jewish in me until my late 40's). I used to attend a Southern Baptist church so I know how they can be. Notice I said, used to attend.
I'd be insulted as well. They had no right in doing what they did.
Christians need to stop and remember the fact that Christianity has it's beginnings in Judiasm.
Please, don't dislike all of us. I'm certainly not like that.
