I used to read mine alot, but when my mother passed away I have suddenly turned away from it. I feel really bad about this, and I wish that my faith was strong when she was alive, but it is actually a lot weaker. I just want to know how often you guys read your bible, and if you believe that not reading your bible will condemn you to hell.? Oh by the way, if you are atheist, feel free to answer, but if you give a smart *** answer I am reporting you bc i don't have time for ignorance. What I am basically saying is I respect your decision so please respect mine.

I read my Bible every day. I love the scripture in Psalm 1:1-3
Ps 1:1-3 1 Happy is the man that has not walked in the counsel of the wicked ones, And in the way of sinners has not stood, And in the seat of ridiculers has not sat. 2 But his delight is in the law of Jehovah, And in his law he reads in an undertone day and night. 3 And he will certainly become like a tree planted by streams of water, That gives its own fruit in its season And the foliage of which does not wither, And everything he does will succeed.
Though when you are feeling down, you don't feel like reading the Bible, and when someone you love dies, that is particularly the case. It happened to me a couple of years back. But I've got myself back, and I feel so much better for studying the Bible every day - just spending a few minutes.

While I am an atheist I know my bible well, and have it within arm's length of this computer, along with my other key reference works.
I probably check something in it two or three times a week while I'm active here, but it's not a "reading" book now, though I've read it right through more than once.
From the bible, reading it is clearly not a requirement of salvation (The first generation of Christians didn't have it!), but any Christian would say that reading and studying it (not quite the same thing) must be a good thing.

I carry mine with me always. I read on the way to and from the office (I ride the train). I get through it once every few months.
No where in it's pages is any believer every condemned for not being in the word. Please don't think you are committing some terrible sin for not reading your Bible. You are Loved by God so much that He sent Jesus to come to earth teach us about Himself and our duty to Him, then die a terrible death to buy your freedom from death and hell. All He asks from you is to reach out and take the gift of life He offers you through faith in Him. Have you done that? It's not hard, tell Him who you are (that is what you are) a sinner. Ask for His forgiveness turn to Him and away from sin in faith and he will make you His child. Just as much a citizen of His Kingdom as if you were already there... Jim

I've read it. I also reference it once in a while when people ask specific questions about the Bible. Personally, I can't see how anybody could read it without becoming an atheist. The stuff in it is obvious story-writing. Much of the Bible is truly foul, and the rest is mostly just old superstition.
I've also read over half the Quran and am not impressed with that, either.
Both books are highly repetitive and don't really say much that is substantive. You could reproduce both as pamphlets or short stories without losing much of value.

You should read your Bible every day, and some, occasional, weeks I do. ;)
Not reading your Bible does NOT condemn you to Hell, sin does that. Jesus died on the cross for the forgiveness of your sins, and once you have truly accepted that gift, and made Him a part of your life you are saved.
If you spend a lot of time on the computer, here is a site that might help;

I recommend starting with Romans

It's a book of lies and propaganda ... why sully your head with such nonsense? If Democracy is to prevail, we need to abolish religion all together ... like China did. All religion ever did was spread hate and segregation; the true meaning of Christianity was lost when the Constantine, Emperor of Rome, made it the official religion of it's people. Rome and its democratic system existed for Century's until Emperor Constantine suddenly made it the official religion of Rome. Rome was the society that created what it meant to be a democracy and to be civilized"; I doubt its a coincidence that it all ended soon after legalized Christianity!!!! And don't get me started on the crusades .... Hitler has nothing on the church when you look back on that stain of Christianity's history!
So forgive me if I don't read "The Good Book" ... I'm to busy thinking for myself.

I try to read the bible every night. I don't think you will go to hell if you don't read the bible. I like to read it because it has a lot of stories and good advice.
