Ah, now this is tricky. It's not very clear-cut. A theist, by definition, believes in at least one god. An atheist, by definition, doesn't. That's about all you can say. Some atheists do worship science, some don't. I don't know if there is a god or if there isn't but I sure know this, it isn't the traditional one. Problem of suffering and I find Satan to be a very convient excuse...a little too convinent if you get what I mean.

But I wouldn't like creationism being taught in science lessons, any more than Ned Flanders would want scientists teaching in church.

The difference between creationism and evolutionism is that creationism is a hypothesis, the evidence for which is circumstantial and evolutionism is a theory for which there is empirical evidence (evidence that can be sensed).

No. Atheists appreciate science because it can give us insight into how things work in nature and can give us ideas on how to build new things like the computer I am typing this on. Before you ask, we don't worship nature either (or computers).

One might as well ask if Atheists worship books or music. Many atheists appreciate books and music for what they can tell us and what they can make us feel. That doesn't mean we worship them either.

Nope. Not worshipping anything is kind of the point.

Anyway, what would that look like? Going to a lab and lighting a Bunsen burner to honor the 3rd law of motion? I'm sure the theory would feel special.

No, we do not worship anything. Science is the most precious tool that humanity has to exist in the cosmos and to know our place in the world. No book can tell us that, but hypothesis and experiment of the real world can.

Science can do almost anything for us. When your child doesn't die from malnutrition and you live twice the average lifespan of a century ago, thank a scientist. When you get a bone marrow transfusion or your body gets placed on dialysis, thank a scientist. When you type a message onto Yahoo! Answers and it gets sent at the speed of light through fiber optic cables, thank a scientist and engineer.

If you ask me, scientists and engineers are the building blocks of modern society, but they don't get any credit for it!

They cling to it the same way some cling to religion.

Interesting - since they claim they do not believe in God because there is no absoltue proof. Or proof what-so-ever.

Their theories of evolution, the creation of the world etc are not supported by any proof. Let alone absolute. Yet the throw themselves fully behind these theories.

No.

I have reverence for scientific principles and the scientific process. While worship and reverence are often synonymous, in this instance I maintain that they are not.

You know, one of your recent answers was the only stupidly unthinking one out of about a dozen, and the only one from a "religionist".

And now this. What kind of advert are you for your religion?
