It's a supply and demand market. The more meat you eat the more animals will be raised to supply that need, therefore increasing the levels of methane.
More grains will have to be sown to feed them and more farm equipment will be used to harvest the crops.
A bit of a vicious circle.

Certainly not.
The amount of rainforest, temperate forest and woodland which is destroyed to grow beef is staggering. If you include the fact that something in the order of 80% of the grain grown on the planet goes to feed beef which is only available to the top 10% of the human population, you've got a big problem.
There's also the fact that cow's flatulence is a big factor in the whole global warming debate. They fart almost pure methane and there is a serious amount of research being done into how to plug the butts of the world's bovines.
The biggest global warming factor is our use of energy, especially in cars and coal-fired household / industrial energy applications.
Go Vegetarian. Simple really, especially if you're concerned about the environment in general - not just global warming.
Don't take my word for it - search out a book called "Beyond Beef" by Jeremy Rifkin. That has all the facts on why meat eating is bad for both the earth and for you as an individual. There is also NO reason why we "must" eat meat - my 23 years as a vego who lives a healthy and active life as a fit human male is proof of this fact!

Eating meat creates a market for raising farm animals. Also, farm animals are not "causing most of this", it's the buring of fossil fuels. Interesting idea though, eat a bunch of steaks and save the planet! It's too bad it's not quite true.

It is industrial factory farming that is bad for the environment and poisoning the people. Cows were never meant to eat corn. It causes the cows to get sick.
We, as humans, should eat meat. There is nothing wrong with eating meat, it is the inhumane way they are raised in the factory farms that is wrong.

Farm animals aren't causing most of this, but if they were:
Eating meat doesn't cause the Earth to have fewer farm animals. On the contrary, eating meat encourages us to raise more farm animals for people to eat.

It depends on how you look at it. You are getting rid of the methane, when you eat hamburgers (cows); but no other animal does release a gas like the cow!

Cute question, almost as sneaky as the regular religionist bait and switch, and more refreshing to say the least. That`s my two cents. Nobody says that we can`t be sarcastic in our questions and parallel thinkers in our answers. Have fun all.

Nope, meat production is an inefficient way of making food. Less meat would mean less farmland would be needed and less forests being cleared.
