Because weight fluctuates during the day. If you weigh yourself in the mornings you'll weigh less than in the evenings. This is easily attributed to eating and drinking fluids, all of which have weight.
Maybe not what you were looking for. If you're exaggerating, asking about the speed of weight gain, I think that rapid weight gain isn't as permanent as slow weight gain, that is it is easier to take off. Also to avoid it just work out a little harder on cheat days.

lol...Don't worry about weight worry about inches (and not abusively). Fat is like a sponge, it takes in everything you eat,and specially drink aA sponge is heavier when it is soaked up. It take 3,500 calories to gain and burn fat. If you eat 2,000 calories a day but burn 500 calories it takes about week to burn 3,500 calories to lose one pound of fat. And that's very good and healthy, any more then 2 pound and week can harm you. Remember water weight is usually when what you loose first and muscle is gain and muscle weighs more than fat, so it could be that you are "losing weight" or fat but not noticing because it's a slow process. Keep it up! :)

Because it's easier to eat way too many calories than to take them back off. Your body just can't burn as fast as it can consume. Also, our bodies are --built-- to conserve that food energy. Way back in the day, we weren't guaranteed a food source, so our bodies developed in order to save that food energy so it could be used over an extended period of time. We've been void from Natural Selection for so long that people with lower metabolisms were never culled off, and our bodies still work that way.

That is because when you lose weight it is usally fat. Fat takes a lot of time to burn it up. 3,500 calories in 1 lb of fat. When you eat a big dinner, though, not all of the matter ingested will be stored as fat. You will deficate a lot of the matter. So even though you ate a big meal it will go away the next couple times you pee and poop.

Because when you eat,the fat goes in a seperate area than the food and it is stored there. And it will build up if you just eat and then sit down and watch TV.

we gain it so easily because of all the crap that is put into food these days. our body isnt able to actually process it and use it, so it just sorta stays there. just eat healthy and exercise and you wont have to worry so much. =].
