How fast would a 6.5HP Go Kart that weighs about 150lbs go?

I am buying an off road go kart that has a 6.5 honda hp engine on it, how fast will it go? Can it do atleast 30-40 top speed?

Would it be hard to upgrade to a bigger engine?

It depends on the gearing and the weight of the operator. A 6.5 hp engine is pretty good size for a cart of that weight, so you should be able to hit 30 mph with the right gearing.

Upgrading to a bigger engine will probably require a new chain and new clutch, along with the bigger engine. This will also put more weight behind you and make the handling a little trickier. I'd say to see what you can do with a 6.5-hp engine first.
