Some people believe that He died on Thursday, and that Friday was the last day of Passover, which would have been an extra Sabbath day--hence, the wait until Sunday morning to annoint His body. This would mean three days and nights, as an absolutely literal interpretation of scripture would suggest.
I'm not saying I agree--it's just a theory I've heard, and I figured I'd mention it since you don't want to hear "Friday." ;-)

Actually it was on a Friday. Sabbath was on Saturday, but the Hebrew calender had the new day starting at sundown, so Friday at sundown started the Saturday Sabbath.
