when someone gives you a best answer and you click on their avatar to tell them thank you and find that they don't accept email? How else can you get a thank you to them?

I actually find it more upsetting when people type something like "I'd love to know your answer to this question" or type something rather shocking with no information given to a question. I recently posted a question on Harry Potter being banned (yes yet again) and one of my answers was "it's totally about witchcraft" but they didn't answer if they thought it should be banned or why they disagreed with fiction being allowed--so I wanted to write them and ask for some elaboration. And they didn't allow email.

I don't believe I should thank people for giving me best answer though. I contact those who answer my questions with a thank you for answering--but they were the ones confused and needing answers. I provided the answers. It seems weird for thanking them for me answering their question in the best manner.

I know what you mean sarge. It does irritate me. It makes me feel like they are too stuck up to let people email them. I guess you could go to one of their open questions and talk to them that way and tell them thank you. It would be a hard way, but if you really wanted to then you could do it.

If you want to you can always go to 'add/read comments' and leave a comment there. But really there's no need, those of us who don't want emails or private messages for whatever reason (for me it's that I don't care to get spammed) know that in keeping out what we don't want, we also won't get the friendly messages.

just forget about them. there's going to be hundreds more people who are going to give you best answer someday. so does that mean that you have to give them ALL a thank you email? hmmm?

Yes, I have had that happen, as well as times when I've read answers to other peoples questions that were of help to me.

I know what you mean.
You did your part and I bet that
they know that. Wished we all
got that chance to say thanks.
I would do alot of things different.
Good question.
