Well, buddy...Long response ahead, now bear with me, i'm young, still early twenties, but if i may state my opinion:
There is a difference between islam and muslims today... Muslims aren't doing what islam is about.. that's why they're called extremist.. Now i'm saying this.. because i'm muslim (don't hold it against me: i don't wear veil, i grew up in a christian school and i'm more with western ideology.. ), but i believe Dr. Wafaa is right about some of what she's saying, but the one thing she didn't mention is that islam is not about what those b@stards extremists are doing in the world today... Islam is getting to know other nations regardless of their religions and respecting them (i read many verses in the Koran that says so..), and not converting them.. (in the Koran, God says what means that people from different nations, different religions, different colors, different backgrounds will enter heaven or whatever.. i doesn't discriminate a jew from a christian, from a muslim.. it says simply that each one will be judged according to his deeds), neither insulting them and calling them names.. that is just childish... If God wants someone to be muslim, or christian, or jewish, or just a believer in His existence, He'll be showing that person the way.. & no i don't mean by "He" that God is a male... nor a female.. That i don't know, and i shall not speak of... because I grew up in a christian school, my family thought that i should attended some lectures about islam, but i didn't like what muslims there were saying and teaching for many reason, the fact that they were always saying that only the girl who wears a veil is pure... but i don't believe so... cause i believe that purity and goodness is in the heart, no matter what the person looks like or wears... Second, they were kind of like some churches who always preaches about what will get you in hell instead of what will get you in heaven... I figured something, i speak arabic, and i read it and i will interpret the Koran the way i understand it, i don't need teachers or religious leaders who'll only say this is right and the other would say this is wrong and then they'd fight.. i believe i'm more spiritual than religious.. and only God will guide people to the true path,... I'm not preaching, but i'm not just talking.. Hope i didn't make this long...

God bless

Islam is going through a revolution. It will continue until Islam is no more (I pray not), or has made freedom and respect for other religions a major part of their faith (real respect, with NO tearing down other people's structures and statues, no killing people who leave Islam, etc.)

When it does, Islam will once again embrace the West, and become the center for arts, philosophy, and science that it once was before it turned it's back on the rest of the world.

We will not wait for you, oh Islam. We will pray, and leave one hand behind us for you to take when you are ready...

...to do so without trying to cut it off.

I realy think that her point of view is not based of a real knowledge of authentic islam, it's because of her far from the source like others who wer not living in muslims countries since they were children.
there are a good words that say "those who speak about a thing they don't realy know or misunderstand are subject to mistifying or to be out of reason"
this is really the case of this poor psychologist.

Why does Islam dislike Dr. Wafa Sultan?

She tells it like it really is, and says the same thing in both Arabic and English.
