I have been out of my parent's house since I got married in 2002, My sister has always been really rude to my Dad, but lately it is out of control. She is about to turn 21, but still lives with our parents, it is their house and she refuses to "put up or shut up".

My Dad has started having health problems lately every now & then.. the doctors thought he had cancer on his tongue, when she found out her reply was "good, maybe they will cut your tongue out so you can't talk to me anymore".. My mom just told me that she had said this and I'm completely appalled by this.

So, My question is.. What can I do to make her see what she is doing to our Dad, he has always been there for us, and provided a really nice life for our family when we were kids, but my sister still refuses to have any respect for him whatsoever. What could I say to make her realize that words really can scar the soul?

I would tell your parents to kick her out! If she can't show any respect to your father I would personally leave her stuff on the curb along with changing the locks! 4 words....NO RESPECT,
NO HOME!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry to hear about your father, first off. Well it seems like your sister is very unappreciative, in my opinion all you can do is advise her to change her ways. Maybe telling her that if she doesn't stop treating your father this way, she will never forgive her self when he is gone. Theres not much you can do or say to her that won't get you in bad terms with her, mainly because you don't even live there anymore. It should be your parents to stand up to her and be firm with her. If I were your parents I would've told her to move out already since she acts like everything bothers her about your father.

I hope you can resolve this problem, and i hope i was of some help.

Not your problem, really. Your dad is the one who isn't kicking her as s. And that's what she needs. If you'd like, you can say something really mean, like: "your stupid whining and bitching is the reason why dad's health is failing. Hope you're happy, jerk." it's mean, yes, but that's what it's going to take to get her to straighten up.

There's nothing you can do. He has to assert himself, and if he tolerates her behavior it's his responsibility. He should make her leave the house and become independent.
