It always comes up, and everytime I hit "okay" it goes to weird symbols and what not. Is there anything I can do to change this or trouble shoot it? Can you tell me in "idiot" terms, because I'm not very computer savvy!! Thanks!!

A PDF file cannot be opened in MS Word, only in Adobe Reader. If you have purchased Adobe Acrobat, it is possible to save a PDF to a .doc file so it can open in Word. The point of a PDF is to have a format anyone can view (and it will look the same from computer to computer) without having special software.

You cannot just open a PDF file - you can only read it. You have to convert it to a format like Word. The above link will take you to a free conversion web site. I have tried it. It's easy, does a good job, and converts many formats.
Go to the website. It is easy enough that I'm sure you will be able to figure out the prompts.
