I always hear that it is bad for the face... then I see that some skin care products do provide a soap bar as the first step to cleansing. According to some magazines, soap bars are too rough for the face... I'm guessing they meant the regular ones where it's used to clean the body, but I'm not too sure... does it also apply to beauty soap bars that are sold in cosmetics?

Sounds a bit confusing to me...

when the bar of soap is provided, that means it IS a facial cleanser, just not in a liquid form. you should NEVER use body soap for your face, because, yes, it is WAY too harsh for your delicate skin on your face.

No,definatly not never use a bar of soap on your face it can lead to rashes and dry itchy skin (very unconfertable) inless you use dove sensitive skin that might be okay bcause it doesnt have the cemicals and perfumes in it as much as other soaps do so...go to your local store like walmart or target (etc) and buy and olay or aveeno daily facial wash it will help your skin and make it soft and after you aply the facial wash what ever brand you buy, also get the facial cream to go with it so that you get the best results everyday.

It is absolutely not okay, Bar soap (including beauty bar soap) tends to dry out the skin, even though it is labelled moisturizing or formulated with vitamin E. It is real rough on your face, especially if you have acne prone skin.

there is a difference between a bar of soap and a beauty bar. a bar of soap for which you use to cleanse your enitre body, is not the best for your face. it may be too harsh. a beauty bar is specially formulated for the delicate skin on your face. you should stick to cleansing your face with soaps specifically designed for the face. in a pinch, it is okay to use a bar of soap on your face but should not be a regular practice.

I would only use a pure soap like dove or ivory for your face.
Why? your face is the most exposed part of your body and different then other parts it needs hydration and is also has your "hair" that sheds oil.

If your skin has no reaction from a bar soap, that is fine and follow up with a good hydrating cream (for am and pm)
and don't ever use creams with a mineral oil to them.

You do not want to use a bar soap to wash your face. It is to harsh and messes up the pH balance of your skin. Not only that but it will clog your pores making them look like big black heads on your face. I use a 2 in 1 facial wash that is a cleanser and toner in one. This not only cleanses the face but refines your pores making them look smaller and giving a more even skin tone. You should also use a daily moisturizer under your foundation.

Folks have been using soap bars for years, to clean everything, including their face. Now the skin care business wants you to buy their "special" lotions and creams to do the job....I like Noxzema myself. I use it after working all day. But when I take a shower...It's Irish Spring. I love the smell.

I am an esthetition and i have tried everything there is out there and i keep going back to good old dove soap. The only thing I splurge on is my skin creams and when it comes to skin care moisture is your best answer for looking youthful

I disagree, with using body soap on your face. If you have a really good mosturizer then you will be ok. Just don't wash your face everyday, and that goes with any soap it's hard on the skin.

I would only use cleansers made particularly for cleansing your face. Regular soap can be to drying and remove to much of your natuaral oils. Best bet is to stick with something made just for your face and skin type.
