Can I use Frontline for Dogs on my cats? I see there is less of one active ingredient in the dog formulation. Does it matter?

I would just ask your vet first. That should be a real easy question for a veternarian to answer.

They are almost the exact same medication. A vet told me many years ago, that it was fine to use the dog Frontline on my cat with the vet recommended dosage.
Like another said, it is much cheaper to buy the big dog Frontline and split it between my cats.
If they had major difference of ingredients, I wouldn't. It wasn't my idea, it came from a vet.
I have been using dog Frontline on my cats for at least 7 years and have never had a problem in the least.
I love my cats, but when a vet tells me it's ok, I'm all for saving money.

Well, you're not going to beleive this, but I had a vet tell me to check the boxes. Amazing. The product is the SAME for dogs and cats. So I buy the LARGE DOG container and use it to cover my four cats. I use a small syringe to pull the amount I need out of the container and then SPRAY (not inject) the liquid in the right spot on the cat's shoulders.
We do this for the price alone. One container for dogs is $15 and covers 4 cats. A single package for 4 applications for our cats is $45. Do the math.
Don't take my word for it. YOu have checked the boxes yourself. NOTE: FRONTLINE Is the ONLY one you can do this with. Advantage is ANIMAL SPECIFIC.

no...i wouldnt...its made specifically for dogs cuz dogs are more likely to be outdoors. A cat frontline is cheaper than a dog frontline anyways. They have done studies where dogs and cats can eat the stuff without getting sick but i wouldnt try that either. Stick with Frontline or Revolution....HARTZ can KILL a cat very easily...dont use it please!

NO!!! You may poison the cat if you use a flea med meant for dogs on a cat (cat will go into convulsions, coma, even death). The formulations are different! Don't do it!

Do not use Dog frontline on your cat.
It could kill them.
Dog and cat fles repellants use different products that work differently with different animals bodies.

YES. to put it as simple as possible, thats why they are sold serperatley. One is for dogs and one is for cats. So do not give your cats the dog one.

Absolutly not. The fomulas are animal specific and using it on your cat may actually kill the fleas but the cat also.

Please don't use any product for dogs on a cat. They are not interchangeable. Usually they contain different ingredients and in different proportions.

I know you can use the dog kind (or at least the puppy kind) on cats, but I would ask the vet for dosage instructions first. I think it should be okay as long as you put the correct amount on & next time get the kind for kitties.
