This is what we call one of the "Gray Areas" of the Bible, areas that the Bible does not cover specifically but spark much controversy over whether they are sinful or not. What the Bible does cover, however, is sexual impurity. It says that if a man looks at a women with lust, it is just as bad as if he actually fornicated with her. This subject is open to a lot of interpretation, but the most common response that i have heard on the "how far is too far" debate, is this: any action that causes a desire that cannot be fulfilled in a Godly way is too far. So for some people they can handle kissing and such without getting too excited, others, apparently, cannot even be in the same room as each other. Oh, and don't try to use Paul's references to holy kisses in the Bible on your girlfriend's dad, my boyfriend tried that, it did not go over so well.

There is such a thing as a "Holy Kiss." Go to:
http://www.ucg-dallas.org Look for 'media library' at the top.
Click that, then scroll down to about number 22 or 24; you'll see a 'sermonette' which talks about the Holy Kiss. 13 min. long full of scripture references.
Maybe this will help-also, it may help you to discern whether it actually was this type of kiss. You can also search these types of articles at Verticle Thought Magazine-a magazine of understanding for tomorrow's leaders. http://www.verticlethought.org
In the book of Solomon, (a good book to read for younger people in love-older ones, too!) there is some good advice from a young woman in love; she says not to wake love before its' time...Kissing could sure be a start to 'waking love.'
Let us know how this works for you!

I truly do not feel that kissing is wrong before marriage. The Bible talks about fornication. I believe that to be sexual behavior out of marriage, where there is no true affection for the other, i.e. one night stands, playing games, strip clubs, etc.

I think if you went around kissing girls just for the fun of it, that would be wrong. But if you feel an affection with this woman, then I see nothing wrong with it.

I have raised two daughters, who are now in their 30's. This is motherly advice. You are of legal age. You are in college. You and your girlfriend are adults. What you and your girlfriend do together is no one's business but yours and Gods.

Don't discuss this with your father. If he brings it up again, tell him that, out of all due respect, this is between you and God, and you are seeking God's advice, one-on-one with Him.

But, keep it at kissing. It might be hard, but if she is God's choice for you, and you wait until you are ready to be husband and wife, then God will bless your marriage abundantly.

I love the whole notion of someone demanding that you find "justification" in a 3,000-year-old book for doing something as wholly natural and normal as kiss your own girlfriend. That's absurd.

You don't need the Bible here. You just need to remember that your GF's father is an insane old prude who is neurotically overinvolved in his daughter's romantic life, and proceed with extreme caution.

Oh it's fine! If you don't do anything with your girlfriend before you marrie her than how do you know if you even love eachother. I wouldn't be suprized if there some religious people who get married just for that reason and don't want to feal guilty of kissing and having sex before they are married, and those are the people who get divorsed 4 months later becuase they rushed it and were not ready for it.
My advise go out and get intiment for atleast 2 years preferably 3-4 before actually marrieing someone. I don't see why anyone would even want to get married, you want the same lover your whole life, cause it's called cheating if you decide to screw someone else even if it is for just 1 night

The problem with kissing is that it can lead on to more lust . Let's say you go to bed and maybe have a kid ,and then separate...what kind of life will that child will have ? Get your careers going first .
1John 2:16 " For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father , but is of the world".

It doesn't say in the Bible that it is or isn't okay. But I'm a Christian and a lot of pastors have told me it's okay as long as you are certain you are absolutely not going to let it lead to sex.

Men and women both kiss each other in the Bible, however it is never related to sexual attraction. Kissing in that way just isn't addressed, let alone justified or condemned. -yk

sexual immorality is what is wrong. If you are both ok with kissing, it is fine, just don't kiss around the dad.
