Errors happen and the legal system has much bigger fish to fry. Fix the license and make sure the insurance is current and you'll probably get a slap on the hand.
Call the DA and ask them what to expect if you really want to know.

If you were to be honest with your question, then you would be getting honest answers, from people who know, excluding assumptions. Now, let me tell you what really happened. Either you never had a drivers license, or it is suspended, and you probably never had insurance. You're using the expired license excuse for lack of insurance. You got caught because you made a stupid mistake, and now you're hoping someone will give you an out. If you are eligible for a license, get it, then get insurance. If you can't get it before the court date, request a continuance so you can at least appear with the proper documents. All of this is after the fact, and technically, you are guilty. The judge may show leniency, because you will have shown good faith in trying to correct the situation. You may also want to talk to an attorney for legal advise. If I am wrong with some of the things I said, I apologize, but I bet, I'm pretty damn close.

First, you should have been arrested because you violated the law...Minor...?? depends on the state and the location therein. Something is missing here...An expired license and no insurance...?? I have never heard of someone having a license, let it expire and for some reason could not be insured...NOW, if your were suspended for one of a hundred reasons,,,,then I could see where you would not be able to get insurance. Both of those infractions are civil infractions and are usually dealt with by the issuance of a ticket/summons...not jail time...Jail time comes from a suspended license, etc...
Call the Magistrate or District judge (name varies throughout this country) or whomever handles tickets and ask what you should do prior to your court date.. You might even call the officer that arrested you..If this is being handled in a HIGHER court then you were arrested for something more serious than and expired license and no insurance. Last thing...you had to be notified someway as to what youwere arrested for.....what were the OFFICIAL charges?????

Here's the deal. In alot of states, if you obtain your driver's license, & proper insurance before your court date, the DA will drop the charges as it seems the charge did it's job and made you smarten up. Hopwever, don't count on it. The charges are valid and may just stick. Good Luck!!
