i'm trying to know every word by it's root word and it's much easier if i know what the latin root word is

example:
hydr - water
auto - self
and so on

You would need practically a whole Latin dictionary.

Instead, get an English dictionary which shows the etymology, where our words have come from. That will explain the roots, and whether they are Latin, Greek or whatever. But you have to remember that words change their meaning, you can't always go by the meanings of the roots.

hydr stems from greek ydor=water. this stems from saxonic wasser.
auto stems from greek autos-auth-auto, meaning sole, the same, by it-him-her self. self stems from saxonic selbst.
so stems from saxonic so.
and from saxonic und
on from greek EN, meaning one, one plus.
