I was bitten by a spider 2 days ago and still have lots of swelling, redness & itchiness around the area. It is also hot to the touch and between the size of a quarter and half dollar.

You may be having an allergic reaction, or it may be a wolf spider or such type of bite. They can start to necrotize the flesh (eat away at it) and often require antibiotics to clear them up. I know -- been there, had to do that!

If it is still hot to the touch and swollen after 48 hours, you probably should go to the doctor and have it checked.

If you have not yet been seen by a doctor, it is time to do so. Depending on the type of spider that has bitten you, it may be a question of more time, or it could mean that the tissues that has been affected needs to be removed. It's best to be seen early, rather than to wait until major damage has been done by the venom.

My son was stung by a small jellyfish once. We took him to the Dr, and he prescribed meat tenderizer! Wet the area and rub some on. It has the same effect as tenderizing a steak. Something in it breaks down muscle tissue, and reduces the swelling.

What my mom used to do was to pop it,and then put peroxide and neosporin on it. It worked! So, I suggest you do that, and it will probably get better.
