according the old testament yes, but cutting your hair was also a sin. i truly believe that if you believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and you are saved thats all that matters. i dont for one second believe that my tattoos are going to make me go to hell. i love my Father way to much for that to happen.

If ya saying tattoo is sinful. Then What about all the people putting makeup everyday trying so hard to make them self pretty. It's also a kind of body mods which dun stay on the skin.then if ya telling me that it can be wipe off but still people are reapplying everyday with different colors. .. Then what about eyebrow tattoo which only last for 2 years. And a simple ear piercing is also counted as mods of the human body. If ya saying that tattoo which is body mods is a sin, then what makes all the other body mods not... And y almost everyone on this earth is having a ear piercing...God made us the way as we should be..... isn't making our body pretty in any way counted body mods.. So is everyone in this world sinning... I guess it's just the way people think.. Human set the rules...

Personally, I'm a) not religious anyway and b) from the UK (where the idea of tattoos as expressing some dreadful sinful tendencies in the wearer hasn't caught on to quite the same extent as it seems to have done elsewhere). In my view, sin (in as far as I accept the concept at all) has mainly to do with one's actions towards others, and not at all to do with one's choice of clothing, body art, musical tastes, etc etc. That said, as it would appear that a great many people seem to consider tattoos as being practically an express elevator into Hell, I suppose it's worth anyone thinking of getting tattoed recognising the fact that other people may have issues with them and that these people may decide to trumpet their issues loudly at every opportunity, just by way of preparation.

Masturbation is not mention in the bible , if God wanted to address that , he would have , but that is private . God respects our privacy . It is not the churches Business or anyone . If God has a problem with anything you do , He will let you know , That is why we are born again , and the temple of God , and God dwells in this temple and will show you what is right or wrong . Tattoos are just decorations of art , and a persons body . They have nothing to do with the heart of the person , other than the heart of the person likes them for some reason . Jesus said the heart is what defiles a man not what a man put in his mouth , on even on his body .

tattoos can't sin.
if you are wondering if it is a sin to have a tattoo then i say no but that's just my opinion.
if you look in the old testament at the multitude of things that we are not supposed to do or things that we ARE specifically suppsed to do you will find that you probably don't follow what the bible tells you. there is ONE passage that mentions tattooing and that you shoulnd't do it. there are many more passages that instructs us to not lie, steal, murder, covet and yet people act as if having a tattoo is so taboo and sinful.

This is a tough question to answer. I myself was raised in church from a VERY young age. I was taught that many things are simply not acceptable...such as the ten commandments. I was also taught that sex during your period was a no no according to the Old Testament...so is masterbation...porn...piercings...tats... etc. I got my first tattoo a week ago today. My mom gave me all kinds of static about it saying in the Bible that its a no no. I also have my nose, both eyebrows, tongue, cartlidge and 2 sets in each ear. Even though my mom gave me grief about my piercings and now my tat....last mothers day she got HER nose pierced...and she gets fake tattoos all the time so whats the difference....it is still ink on your skin??!! I too am curious of some pastors thoughts on this and some definite clear Bible Scriptures about this.

There are many people who say that Tattoos are a sin. And the Bible does state that one should treat there body as a temple or pyramid. However on almost all temples and pyramids there is writing and pictures that represent who is buried in the temple/pyramid. Personally i believe it is ok to get a tattoo as long as it represents you and not just to get one to get one.

Nope. I don't believe so.
I think tattoos and markings on the body were a pagan practice back in that time. Historical context is key to interpreting the WORD.

Well if it was than you could just go confess and get obsolved. I seriously doubt if there is a God, that he wouldn't let you into heaven because you decided to get a tattoo.
