it sure seems to.......even the meekest christian is expected to live forever after death (thast wierd enough.....oxymoron much?) in wonderful splendor, secure in the fact theyre significant.....................

That's one way to look at it. Faith really is believing something because you wish (or fear) it to be true.

Do all of the things you believe equal ego? I believe that when I breathe in the air, oxygen will enter my lungs. Does that make me some sort of ego maniac? Of course not.
Does it make atheists ego maniacs for telling the whole world that everyone else's beliefs are wrong? Of course not. It's just their beliefs and lots of other religions do that.

You have it all wrong... a total misconception of faith and Christianity!
Ego is more like someone who believes that they have done it all themselves without the help of a greater power than them.

Not necessarily. Maximilian Kolbe, a Polish priest being held at Auschwitz, sacrificed himself for another inmate who was to be executed. Is that ego? Doesn't sound that way to me.

the ego is really just identification with form. if a person of faith identifies themself with that faith, it is the ego.
