Join Weight Watchers and exercise at least 5 days a week....because of the short period of time that you're trying to loose weight you need to be very cautious of exercising...work through those days when you just don't feel like it. Eat a balance meals every day drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Allow for a treat "once in a while" not every day. You may loose the weight in 5 months but enjoy yourself...sense summer is coming up take a jog outside instead of going to the gym....or jump rope outside. Weight loss should be a pleasant experience not a dreadful one.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight.
eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.
5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
8 glasses of water a day.
4-6 times a week cardio work out for 30-50min plus light weight training.
no junk food, no sodas, no white flour (white bread, pasta, cookies, cakes etc)

Exercise.
People will say exercise and diet, but diet will follow. When you see that donut as 30 minutes more on the elliptical machine it becomes less tempting.
And what's more, you end up not tempted by it if you technically are not denying yourself.
When I lost weight I was surprised at all the people trying to give me food. I didn't deny myself, just didn't want it.
Oh another "trick" is becoming a Vegetarian or Kosher or something. Suddenly people can't give you food without risk of being meatist of intolerant of your religion or something.
Oh your underwear will not fit and fall down as you use belts and stuff to hold up your pants. Oh, stretch marks fade.
As for the idiots recommending carb counting diets, can you say cholesterol?
Besides, what did I say about denying yourself anything. If you want that piece of bread giving it the allure of forbidden fruit is not going to help.

You need to take in less calories than your body burns on a daily basis. Cutting out sugar is a major help. And cutting back on carbs helps too. Both are high in calories. Add in cardio most days of the week for at least 30 minutes. Try to increase it to 45 if you can. This can just be going for a walk. Anything to get your body moving and heart rate up to burn some calories. Drink more water and if you are a snacker just try to make better choices. Reach for veggies with a little bit of dip, or a piece of fruit with some peanutbutter, or light popcorn.

the south beach diet is a very good diet that ive been on before....u basically cant eat almost anything but in about a week you loose 5 pounds bc of the decrease in calorie intake...u should also go to the gym regularly to help your body burn even more fat. good luck!

my mom did the low-carb diet and lost 27 pounds in 3 months. if you're looking for something not very expensive, i suggest that. otherwise the diet foods they advertise on tv are probably really good, but expensive! good luck!
