You can only decide what you want, and just make sure it will NOT be something you'll start to dislike or regret a few years down the road. The best spot is a spot on your body that you can show it off if you want to, and hide it if you need to, for going to church or on a job interview.
The lower leg or foot is good, because you can have it visible in the summer. Or upper arm, shoulder, small of your back.
Just don't get it somewhere you can't hide it if you need to. And start thinking of things you like, animals, symbols, are you religous, are you into certain things you can tattoo a symbol of? You'll figure it out.

I wouldn't get a tattoo just to get a tattoo. Since you are wearing it for the rest of your life, you really need to pick something that has meaning to you and/or that you truly want so that you'll like it years after you have your tattoo.
I know the responses in here prob aren't all that nice but you think about it and this is how your question is being read...I really want a tattoo..I have no idea what to get or where to get it though. Tell me what to get...I know I don't know you and you know nothing about me...but I just really want a tattoo.
I mean if you were reading your question and it was saying the exact same thing...what would you think?

Never copy what someone else already has. If you are old enough to say this is what I want for the rest of my life I would say pick something that has meaning to you and something that reflects you or something of interest to you . Just a few of my ideas, I just hate seeing all these people walking around with the same **** scratched for life on their bodies. choose very wisely and also if you pick a symbol make sure you know what it stands for.

If you must decorate your body in this manner, I suggest starting with something small that will be covered by clothes. Also, think about what the tattoo will look like when you are 70 and your skin is loose and wrinkly. When you get older and enter the job market, visible tattoos may be a mark against you in the hiring process. Unless you are going in the military then that is a different story.

A tattoo will be with you for the rest of your life, so you need to put a lot of thought into this.
You need to think about why you want the tattoo. Because it's popular? Because your best friend got one? Because some celebrity has one? These aren't good reasons...
You don't want something that's trendy, or something some stranger on Y!A suggests...you need to do some soul searching and find something that is very meaningful to you, or a symbol of that which has meaning to you.
Is there something so meaningful to you that you want to brand your body with for the rest of your life? If so, great! Get that tattoo!
If not, you need to seriously re-think your decision to get a tattoo and wait until you would do it for the right reasons...

Well I got my very first one last week. I had been wanting one for years but wasn't sure what I wanted so I took my time to figure out EXACTLY what I wanted to put on my body FOREVER. I finally decided on getting my nickname "BabyGirl" inside a heart on my inner left ankle. It is in a great font that I loved when I saw it. It is also surrounded in outlined stars and hearts with some lighter shading with a touch of white to make it all stand out more.

I think tht tatoos are really cute on the lower back with like a longer design so it goes all the way across. They are very cute. I have had a temporary one there and i loved it!

You are asking me ( a stranger) what you should get and where you should get it? You AREN'T ready for a tattoo. This isn't like a purse or a pair of shoes that you can toss when they get out of style. You are going to be wearing this tattoo UNTIL THE DAY YOU DIE.....Come back when you know what you want (and preferable where you want it) and we will answer any questions you have about how much getting a tattoo hurts or about aftercare.......

NEVER ask a bunch of strangers what YOU should get on YOUR body. you need to come up with your own ideas and/or talk to a tattoo artist. though your bet bet might be to stay far away from tattoo shops. at least until you actually know what you want.

My mom's friend has a tatoo on her right shoulder, a little dolphin swimming, you could get a little shamrock on your stomach or a flower on your shoulder
