Or both? Of course, this will be different for each agnostic. What question has not been sufficiently answered for YOU?

Yes.

Even if there were a god, who's to say which religion celebrates him the "correct" way.

The question of religion has been sufficiently answered for me... from my studies I have concluded that all religions are or were created by mankind to explain the world around them and in many cases to control the actions of the populace by any given ruling class. The only question that has not been answered satisfactorily for me is whether or not any omnipotent godlike beings of any kind actually exist... Based on current knowledge and evidence I do not believe that such beings do in fact exist, however from a philosophical standpoint I cannot discount the possibility nor can I close my mind to it. I am waiting for real knowledge of any kind of divine beings, until then I will not claim to believe they do exist as it stands there is no evidence for that. In the interim I will keep an open mind, but I can tell you that if any gods/goddesses do exist I would not suddenly follow their religion.. I would keep my own beliefs still just add to my knowledge that indeed there do exist omnipotent beings.

The God side: If there is an almighty deity, where did said deity come from? How can there be something/one so powerful that they can create everything and yet we have no proof? How would they do this? Thinking about it, if I were an almighty deity and I made a bunch of little critters, why would I want to order them to do this and that and the other and worship me and only me and/or kill the other little critters that didn't listen? I wouldn't. I'd just want them to run around and be cool with each other, which leads to the...

Religion: Your deity wants you to not question anything? Your deity wants you to remain ignorant of science and not even bother to figure out how things work? Your deity wants you to shun any other ideas other than what is written as truth? Your deity doesn't encourage you to grow as a species and reach their full potential? This doesn't seem right at ALL to me. x.x

The People: I have seen so many people go in there and learn 'respect your fellow man, judge not lest ye be judged,' and come out cussing other people and condemning them to hell for not believing in the same things. What happened to that 'Be excellent to each other message'? Huh?

What is the point in religion if it makes you close your eyes and ears and heart and only look to a book of obscure references and stories that nobody cares about anymore?

For me personally, I am just admitting that i really dont know, and accepting the fact that no one has the right answer, Of course I have my own beleifs that are for me, but i dont liek to catagorize them into a religion but agnostic is the closest thing. I do believe in God and morals,Though I do still like reading and learning about other religions, i know no one really knows, and thats ok with me.

You are wrong to assume that there is necessarily any questioning going on at all. An agnostic neither asserts or denies the existence of "God", whatever that might be. I assume that it is unknowable for me and all other human beings due to our own limitations. That pretty much eliminated any questions about religion(s). They're wrong, the end, chapter and verse ( a little irony there for you).

Hi Phoenix
Read:
The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins.... you sound smart enough to handle it... tight arguments, well thought out, but tough reading. He could have dummied it down a bit... no reason, for example, to use a big word like pejorative when there's gotta be something easier .... You'll enjoy it, if you have at least a hs education, and some brains. It's been on the NYT best seller list.

This book will answer and or outline most questions you have about the thinking person and religion---worth every dime

i don't so much question god as i do religion (christianity mostly)

on a really bad day, i question god, but not usually. I go to church, but mostly as an outlet for being involved in the community. (my church doesn't do a whole lot of preaching about jesus, unless it's around easter or christmas, so it works out for me.)

i don't believe jesus was the son of god, and I'm not particularly religious, i don't lean on god, but kind of view him/her/it as something to marvel at that is way beyond my understanding. i do pray, but it's directed very generally most of the time to whatever may be out there listening.

I have had none of my questions sufficiently answered. Its not that I dont necessarily believe in the possible existence of a god......its that I dont believe in the concept of organized religion.

Well the idea of religion is somewhat of a joke. Just look how many people claim to have the rite way to do things. Why should I belive one over another?
