I see here in yahoo very fierce discussions that explode into debates and some of the strongest activity I have ever seen. Now if politics are such a hotbed here how can the USA as a whole have such a piss poor voter turn out every election?

I think alot of people feel that the VOTE doesnt really count... and frankly with the new electronic voting with no paper trail,.. it probalby doesnt count. Scary.

Most people are too busy with their lives to worry about politics. I wish that actually those educated about the issues voted so I think a low turn out is better for our country. The past election was a case in point. I had a co-worker who actually thought that the president would be kicked out of office because the Democrats were now in the majority (she voted Dem). The posters are a very pasionate minority and try to prove their egos correct so it can get nasty on the net.

If voting was made as easy as clicking a mouse on a computer, there would be as many voters.

Because the education system is so bad. Our children know nothing about history.
