then why did he/she make nature so cruel? Little seals being torn to shreds by killer whales....injured and old animals brutally killed by predators....et al. Why didn't the god make nature a little more sentimental?

Nature isnt cruel. Nature is indifferent. Thats all.
Somehow, Im still wondering why God created a wasp that likes to sting catepillars so that it can lay eggs inside of them so thats its offspring can devour the living flesh of a paralysed catepillar.... Yep - now THATS the actions of an all loving being... Pandas can only care for one young at a time, so when it gives birth to twins, it must decide which baby to abandon to the elements. Again, extremely loving, no? And, Tasmanian devils can only breast feed four young - so it EATS any more babies it has. Again, thats love man!!!

if you're going to go that route, God created the Garden of Eden, where eveything lived peacefully. Then humans f'ed it up, so now the baby seals must get shredded! But God didn't create nature so don't worry about it.

God did not create nature, man created god to fit his own image of god.
Creation and destruction, life and death, is all apart of Nature.
Nature was there before us and nature will still be there after were dead.
Nothing is above Nature.

all life is part of the circle. all things are connected.
the things you mentioned are things that help us to evolve and become stronger. everything has it's role.
unlike humans animals kill for food not sport. the whale doesn't slaughter the seal for it's fur. it does it to eat.
nature and the goddess are the same. she wants us to be strong and independent.

Gandalf, you had to fight the Balrog demon, you should know how cruel life can be.. but it's also lovely and kind.
