Thats the beauty of Chrisitanity - no one cares about the past. If Christians paid attention to the past, they would see that their religion is nothing more than an amalgamation of several different religions, all rolled up into a not-so-nicely-packaged, thinly disguised One True Religion. Of which there are already several competing choices...

Christ was the fulfillment of the promised Messiah. He was promised in the covenant God made with Adam and Eve after their fall. And there was a "remnant" of people that walked in faith believing that someday God would fulfill His promise to them which was that He would make them right with Himself someday. Because of the covenant promises God made with Adam and Noah, Abraham, at Sinai (Moses & the 10 commandments) with the Israelites, David, etc. there were people who took God at His word and believed that someday He'd send a redeemer who would REMOVE their sins. In the meantime, God instituted the Jewish laws and sacrifices which COVERED their sins (or "atoned" for their sins) while they waited for the promised Messiah who would take away their sins once and for all.
The sacrifices which God instituted for those in the Jewish faith were like credit cards. They would cover the people but they would not remove or pay off their sins. Jesus' sacrifice would pay off all of the credit cards so to speak - for those who believe(d) in Him. The cross of Christ removes all sins for all those that believe in Him both after His death and ressurection and before - from Adam's time to the very last day this earth exsists.
So the Jewish faith and the Christian faith are really one. The roots of Christianity are the Jewish faith which was not man made but rather God inspired. This is why in the Bible there is the Old Covenant and the New Covenant. It's also why there is the covenant God made with Adam and Eve; Abraham, etc. because although they're different they aren't. They all about the Messiah.

Jesus Christ died for the sins of the world. He died for those that came before him and those that are yet still to come.
As a Mormon, in our doctrine we believe that when people die they go to live in what is called a Spirit World. Mormons have a great program in which we do our geneaology and we look up our own ancestors who have died without having been baptized. We actually work in our temples to do baptisms for the dead.

They rose up with Christ when He rose up the first time after spending three days in hell. He cleaned the place out, and will once again. They are the blessed, since they are already tasting the fruits of God's love.
Thanks for the opportunity to spread the Gospel of Christ, God bless you always.

If they were a Jew who kept the Old Law, or a Gentile that kept their law to the best of their abilities, then I believe the New Testament implies that they were saved by the blood of Jesus - as the Old Testament was looking torward the day of Redemption (Jeremiah 31.31-34).
That is a very good question.

All humanity will stand before Christ on judgment day.Hell is temporal...the Lake of Fire is eternal. The Ten Commandments are written into our hearts.God knows the hearts of men.Salvation has always been by Grace. The Law was meant to point people to the Saviour.

He died once for ALL..If you will study it..before the death of Jesus, when people died, they went to paradise..and yes, there were 2 sides..during this time, Jesus' death, He put an end to paradise. Things changed after His death and His ressurection. For instance..we are no longer under the law, but under grace..
Before Jesus' death they were under the law of Moses, where they had to bring sacrifices to the temple to the priestbut that's another thing that you would have to study for yourself.

i just caught part of a sermon that mentioned this earlier today (thank you catholic TV, so entertaining). they lived in sin, and were sent to some other hell that may or may not have changed when Jesus died. In other words, no one knows what the hell happened and people just try to explain things sensically so they don't get laughed at.

There are so many different opinions about that but the truth is there are some things we just don't know. For whatever reason, we weren't given that information. But knowing that God is just, those souls have been dealt with fairly I'm sure. We will know the answer to this and so many other questions one day!

I just answered the same question a while ago. whether baptized or not the dead are in a holding place for the unsaved. AT some point in time they will be taught the gospel and then have a chance at repentance and salvation. their choice.
