that's what i do.
But some people seem to need the security of the organised religion. Let them have that, and you and i can experience the real thing.

I have tendencies that way myself. but yes priests and churches are needed at least for some. They are good for sacraments etc. They can sometime be good for teaching the word of god. But sermons at church are not a practical venue for the student. Don't get me wrong they know the gospel real well. But ten minutes once a week is not sufficient for the student. If they teach an actual class I would highly recommend that. But yes you can pray any where you want and god hears you even if you don't pray aloud. Sometimes the praying you described it the best. The ministry for the most part is good now because the offending hands have been cut off and the offending eyes have been plucked out.

No need at all for priests and churches. Why would you need to go to some brick structure or housing to pray to God? You can pray anywhere - God is everywhere. Priests and churches believe they have a monopoly on the truth. Most of us who have been brought up in a particular religion are taught that religion and thats all we know. If I was brought up in Saudia Arabia I'd be a muslim - if I was brought up in India i'd probably be a Hindu. I was brought up in Canada as a catholic and was ignorant to any other religion or beliefs. That's what religion does to people - it conditions them to the point where it becomes very difficult to accept any other point of view. You need to break free from these conditionings. You don't need to belong to a specific religion to grow spiritually or to learn about or find God.

You could. But that would be about like sending your child out into a field, telling him to count the flowers, and then he would have no need of a math teacher. Priest do more then simple help with praying. They are there to instruct, having been educated in the scriptures, to make hospital visits, perform funerals and weddings, dedicate children, offer the sacraments, and much more.

The Gospel of St. Thomas (allegedly citing the actual words Jesus spoke) says:
77b
"Split a piece of wood; I am there.
Lift up the stone, and you will find me there."
3a
"Jesus said: If your leaders say to you 'Look! The Kingdom is in the heavens!" Then the birds will be there before you are. If they say that the Kingdom is in the sea, then the fish will be there before you are. Rather, the Kingdom is within you and it is outside of you."
Which can mean that you do not need a church or specific place of worship - since God is everywhere, you can reach him everywhere. So yes - you can go out in a field and worship God. I believe there is a profound difference between an individual's personal belief in their God and the institution of a church.

Yes, you can go out in a field and pray to God. You're actually even instructed to do so, or to find a quiet place to talk with God. But people don't go to church just to pray. I go there to take the sacrament (communion in some churches) and to be spiritually fed. I can be spiritually fed by reading my scriptures, and in other ways too, but one other way is to listen to and participate in the lessons and talks given on Sunday.

Priests and churches are good for those that want to fellowship with others that believe as they do. Getting out and prayin alone in a field is awesome.

You can, but it is said that "where there are two or more gathered in my name I am with there". It is ok to pray alone, but who is there to hold you accountable, to help you out, to be there through thick or thin, to help you out of your ways of sin and back into grace. Without the priest, and others, it is just a lonely world.
Thanks for the opportunity to spread the Gospel of Christ, God bless you always.

Sure, you can pray and be with God whenever and wherever you want, but church is still beneficial. One of the biggest benefits is community. The book of Acts draws out pretty clearly the benefits of community in the church.

I agree! But priests and churches are needed for community building and to take honorable initiatives for the welfare of the society!

You certainly can, and I can tell you it is the best private place to pray to God, and you will get an answer there before you will get one in church, because God dose not like closed in places, he really wants you to pray to him in private.
