can anyone show me in the Torah or the Bible where it says that Abraham was Jewish or where it says that Jesus was a Christian?

People say these things out of "emotion" but show me the proof. (don't get mad at the question.)

Since Jesus was not a Christian and Abraham was not a Jew. What was there religion???

You are right. Nowhere in the bible does it say that Jesus was a christian, and that Abraham was a jew. First of all, if Jesus was a christian then he would be worshiping himself, and that just seems a bit blasphomous. Jesus was a Jew. The reason Abraham was not a Jew was because he was the father of the creator of Judahism. The religion in believing in the god of Abraham was not given the name of Judahism till about 500 B.C.(or B.C.E. for you politicaly correct liberals) And it was named after the land of Judea, so foreigners started calling them Jews and it stuck with them ever since.

So, Jesus and Abraham had the same religion, Jesus though was part of it when it had a name, Abraham was part of it before it had a name.

Abraham was the father of the Jews. Though there were elements of Judaism in Abram's religion (Abraham), i.e. circumcision, Judaism was not around yet. In fact it did not begin until shortly after the Exodus when God delivered the Law to Moses. So no, Abraham was not a Jew anyone who says that he was needs to study a little more.

Jesus on the other hand was not a Christian. He was a Jew. The opening chapters of Matthew and Luke give us His family tree. The New Testament tells us that He lived perfectly by law, tempted like you and I are, yet with no sin. Therefore He was given the authority by the Lawgiver (God) to give the New Covenant which was promised in Jeremiah 31.31-34 and Ezekiel 36.25-27. The New Covenant is what is commonly called Christianity. Though true Christians strive to adhere to His teachings, Christianity did not begin until fifty days following His resurrection. This day is known as Pentecost. It can be read about in the Torah, and the establishment of the Christianity on that day can be read in Acts of the Apostles chapter two.

Jesus WAS NOT a Christian. The religion we would call "Christianity" was formed decades after Jesus died. He was a Jew. I'm not sure of passages, but early on, when Jesus is a child, he goes to the temple, as a Jewish must.
I don't think Abraham was a Jew. He was one of the early Hebrews (called Apache or something). Jewish (and Christian and Muslim) belief say God came to Abraham and showed him His almighty power. He founded what became known as the Jewish religion, and Christianity and Islam are based on that beginning too.

To answer Wisdom, Jesus DID intend for His message to be taken to the whole world. This is shown in the Great Commission and also in Acts 1:8 where He tells the disciples they would be witnesses of Him to "the uttermost parts of the world."

Second, the Magi had access to Jewish prophesy. Daniel, Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego became a part of the Magi tradition. They would have intorduced the idea of a coming Messiah. That's where the wisemen most liekly learned of Jesus.

Lastly, Abraham's "religion" didn't necessarily have a name. You don't need a named religion if there's only one God an it's Him you serve. Jesus' "religion" could be called "the way". That's how early Christians identified themselves.

Please let me help to explain since you are forgetting that those terms relate to events and philosophy. You may want to read the Bible and Torah to understand that
everything to do with religion is based on the "faith" one has in what is taught as fact. Sometimes an historical event is recorded or passed along verbally by people who are trying to get you to see their viewpoint. All history, not just biblical, is tainted by personal viewpoint, economics, politics, and sheer faith.
According to the Bible, Jesus was a Jew ( a descendant of Abraham) and his teachings and sacrifices gave rise to his followers attempt to pass along his teachings, hence Christianity. However, Jesus did have the laws of his ancestors, Judaism, to help people understand his teachings and to grow into becoming closer to God. But, prior to Abraham "finding" of his one true God, most humans worshiped many things such as idols, nature, and even other humans.
Religion is simply a set of beliefs, rituals, and laws that govern human existence. You decide what you want to believe. Hopefully this will make you a better human being.

Abraham was not a Jew.
He was referred to as a Hebrew. Genesis 14:13
Although he did become 'father' of the Jewish nation.
John 8:33
Jesus was never referred to (nor did he refer to himself) as a christian.
In Jesus time, his followers were called members of 'the way'.
Acts 9:2.
It was approx. 15 - 20 years later that the name Christian pops up.
Acts 11:26
What was the religion of Abraham and Jesus?
The one thing the two of them had in common was they both worshipped the God named Jehovah.

Abraham was the beginning of the Israelite nation. So, "Jews" started with him. Technically, he was Jewish as a nationality, therefore. The scriptures do not define a religion for him - but he is called "God's friend" - He was worshipper of the true God, Jehovah (YHWH).

Likewise with Jesus, he was the beginning of Christianity.. so he could be called a "Christian" in one sense. But he was BORN a Jew - into the Jewish nation to Jewish parents.

OK don't listen to what any one else says. Abraham was the Father of Israel it says in Genesis 17:5 that Abraham is the father of a great nation meaning that his descendants would be Israel. check the BIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Jesus is the Son of God it says so in John 3:16 that he is the son but if you want more proof check out John 14:6. Yes he was born in to a Jewish family but he is all God and that's why we worship him Because he is our Lord and creator and savior. I am Born again Christian.

I think abraham was chaldean and christians were not called christians til the book of Acts. Jesus was in the lineage of Abraham. Isaac was symbolic of Jesus is the sense of the servant searching for a bride for Isaac as christ for the true church. Jesus sacrificed himself and fulfilled the old covenant and brought in the new covenant for all people. sin must be paid for in blood Jesus was the Lamb of God slain from the foundation of the world. Hope that helps
