it all depends on your line scores and what MOSs/career fields the Marines are allowing people to sign up for.
Depending on your score, you may be forced to enlist in the Marines under an "open general" contract.
Obviously, you know the Army will guarantee you a school seat. Whether you pass/complete the school is on you.
Regardless of what other people on here say, do you think we'll train you as a Air Traffic Controller, then hand you an M4 and put you out in the streets with the infantry?
Some jobs (13B comes to mind) have had that happen. It's a combat arms thing. Technical jobs are a different animal.

There are no guaranteed in any branch of the military. First, you are a soldier. Then, you will serve at the pleasure of the service.
Don't believe what the recruiters tell you to get you to sign up. You will work where the military wants you to, as long as they want. This is even more true during "wartime".
The Marines are a fighting force. That's what they do, that's what you are trained for. Because they are under the Department of the Navy, the Navy takes care of all but the most ordinary jobs the Marines might require.

Every military service will only guarantee that you eventually will start training in a specific job description. For popular jobs, it may take time because there is more supply than demand. Even if you get in the training, if you fail out, you still have to serve out your time, probably in the infantry.
