VIDEO EDITING SOFTWARE is what i am looking for? can you tell me the names of such software ?

i need to edit some of my videos shooted with my handycam.
but i want to modificate them.
for instance:- cut, copy, paste, putting special effects, inserting names, titles etcc..
please tell about such wonderful and powerful software
and if possible also about any link from where it can be downloaded easly.

I guess you can't get an accurate answer here...!!
