The voice that told Moses to go to the Pharaoh identified himself as "Yahweh," meaning, in Old Hebrew, simply "to be."
Likewise, the commandment says "No other Gods before me." He doesn't identify himself other than saying, simply, "God."
I don't understand all the arguements over words. People put all their own ideas, philosophy, politics onto "God." Who told them to do that. The voice just said "the one that is."

I am aware of 2 different points of view:
1. The Absolute worshiped by all religions is one and the same.
2. The Israelites believed that knowing the name of a person (or a god) gave them at least a smattering of control. That's why their god refused to be restricted / constricted / subjugated by a name.

If God had revealed His name a long time ago, maybe there is no need for us this time to struggle in our lives and try to find His true name. He has given His name to Jacob and Jacob did not know, He had told Moses what was it and Moses never had the clue, He repeatedly told His Prophets and His Chosen ones but all them were somewhat halted to reveal. Daniel knew it so much that he almost had it said until he was told of the time but they (The Prophets)wrote the clue and people never knew.
Two hints among the many just so you would walk through the Bible and understanding:
Isaiah 48:12" Listen to me, O Jacob,
Israel whom I have called:
I am he; I am the first and I am the last."
Daniel 9:19"O Lord, listen! O LOrd forgive! O Lord
hear and act! For you sake, O my God,
do not delay, because your city and your
people bear your Name.
Do you have the clue now? If you know now then you will find that the time is really coming. If you want to directly know now and fidn the reasons for the delay, go to this website..............

no one one knows his name. When I seeked for him(still am) he said I do not know his name, when I asked for him. It talks about a unknown God in the bible. I will be back if I can find scriptures, well I'm a little lazy to look. Proverbs 30:1-4 is one of them. I know it talks about, someone in the old or new, about walking in the streets of Rome??? and the found a plack unto a unknown God. AND in Revelations it talks about the one no one knows coming back to rule. I just learned about that one in church yesterday.

They simply were not able to treat schizophrenia back then, Moses was raised by Pharaoh, he simply thought he would have some pull to free his people that's all, a great story but not vary credible.

God could have told Moses that he was Moses' own conscience. It would be much more philosophical.

Actually God told Moses to tell people when they asked his name to tell them: I AM THAT I AM
God has seventy-two names.
There is only one God no matter what name it is that people choose to call him.
Our Father is how Jesus taught us to refer to God.
