I had some a while back and it was the best bean soup I ever had. It was like a really good ham flavored bean soup. Does anyone know how to make this? I have a crock pot, can I make it in that?

There are many variations on the recipes, some use navy beans, lima beans or pinto beans...

2 cups dried pinto beans, soaked overnight
2 smoked ham hocks
1 bay leaf
1 onion or 1/2 onion if desirec
water

PREPARATION:
Place beans and ham hocks in Crock Pot with bay leaf. Cover with water. Cook 6 to 8 hours on high. No need to season because ham hocks give dish flavor.
Serve with cornbread!

Oh this is super easy! Toss the ham hocks in the crockpot with a pound of dried beans, a quartered red onion, some chopped celery and garlic, and a couple bay leaves. Put in about 4 cups of water (you may have to add a cup or two later), and just put the lid on and cook on high for 6+ hours. You don't even need broth, the ham hocks do all the work for you.
