When the drinking age was lowered to 18, too many 16 year olds were dying. So they raised it back up to 21, knowing full well that 18 year olds would be drinking. It was facts and statsistics that determined that one. And you have to be older to rent a car and a hotel room, because those who are 18 haven't been found to be responsiblr for that either. Wish the age for having babies would go up ...

Actually not all states recognize 18 as being the age of becoming an adult. The term is known as "Age of Majority" when you become old enough to leave home and answer for your own actions.
Some states allow for "emancipation" or terminating ones dependency upon their parents. To do so, you must be able to provide for yourself while being fully employed before a court will recognize emanicipation.
The age of 21 is for consumption of alcoholic beverages. To many teenagers have blazed the trail for this after having made the wrong decisions while under 21.

Do what things? the only other priviledge you receive after 18 is to drink at age 21. Is that your big "thing" you can't do yet? get real. Chances are your already doing it anyway.

Oh but they can...our government will allow them to go fight and die in Iraq.
But don't try being an adult at home, the government doesn't like that.
Strange thing, our government, isn't it?
