Say you’re with a group a buddies, and you fart outside, loud enough to be audible. Do you still need to say, “Excuse me?” Since the fart is lost to the wind, it’s not like you’re stinking up anyone’s air.

I would still say "Excuse me." I mean, how much effort does that really take? Granted, farting outside is a little more "polite" than doing it inside. But still, I think I would still say it...for the disturbance if nothing else.

Flatulating in public should be done openly, and as loud as possible. Try a short squat to position yourself for maximum cheekage recoil. The direction of said flatulance should be aimed at closest member of your group, and you should position yourself to account for the wind. Additionally, one may say "pull my finger", "taste my wrath!", or "fire in the hole". Failure to comply with aforementioned flatulence procedure may result in a visit and/or citation from the fart police. "Excuse me" should not be necessary.

I'd still say excuse me if it was audible--if it wasn't I'd blame it on a buddy . lol

I would still say "Excuse me." just to be polite. Someone still might smell it and it never hurts to be nice to others.

it is always more polite to say "excuse me" even if you don't feel like you are "stinking up" someone's air
