I'm heading to BKK soon.. just needed some advice on how the workmanship and quality of work is there... Makeup? Does it make me look like a drama mama? Anything I should look out for?

There are many good Bridal Studios in Soi Thonglor close to the Sky Train or up at the end of Thonglor is Petchaburi Road some more studios there.
Makup
The studios have their own makeup girls - they are used to doing fashion work and beauty pageant work as well as weddings. It's your face and hair so guide them, although language can be a problem so get someone to help you who can speak Thai.
Wedding Dress.
Again question - do you want a real gown that is made to fit you or a cheap dress that you can squeeze into for a photo shoot?
I mentioned the Bridal shops and studios. The bridal gowns here are expensive. Most are second hand dresses imported from Taiwan - so Asian sizes.
They can make a dress for you. The order will go usually to a local seamstress who has no idea about western girls and their body shapes.
Tailors shops - forget them - so many horror stories of smooth talking Indian salesmen who care about only one thing - your money?
If you are serious and want a serious wedding dress, inexpensive compared to western prices, not cheap then I recommend www.thailandbridal.com - they have experience exporting to US, Europe, Aus etc and know how to fit a western lady.
