Daniel is one of the most fascinating and also among the most crucial books in the OT. Due no doubt to its precise predictions, messianic prophecies, and inspiring example of clean-cut separation from apostate world religion, Daniel has come under attacks from rationalist and unbelieving scholarship.

Daniel's ministry was that of a prophet, and Christ so labeled him (Mat_24:15 and Mar_13:14).

Daniel is not unlike those who hold a "secular" job and still give much time to Bible study and preaching. For example, Sir Robert Anderson, himself a scholar of Daniel's prophecy, headed up Scotland Yard's Criminal Investigation Division in the late Victorian era, and yet had a widely blessed biblical ministry.

Since so much of the book has to do with Gentile world powers, it should not surprise you that Dan_2:4 through chapter 7 is in Aramaic. This is a Gentile tongue related to Hebrew but widely used in international communication in Daniel's time in much the same way that English is today.

The book of Daniel is not an easy read. Here is a suggested outline for you:

I. THE STEADFAST FIDELITY OF DANIEL AND HIS COMPANIONS (Chap. 1)
II. NEBUCHADNEZZAR'S VISION OF THE IMAGE MADE OF FOUR METALS (Chap. 2)
III. NEBUCHADNEZZAR'S GOLDEN IDOL AND THE FIERY FURNACE (Chap. 3)
IV. NEBUCHADNEZZAR'S DREAM OF THE RUINED TREE AND ITS MEANING (Chap. 4)
V. BELSHAZZAR'S DOOM ANNOUNCED BY THE HANDWRITING ON THE WALL (Chap. 5)
VI. DECREE OF DARIUS AND THE DEN OF LIONS (Chap. 6)
VII. DANIEL'S DREAM OF FOUR BEASTS DEPICTING FOUR WORLD EMPIRES (Chap. 7)
VIII. DANIEL'S VISION OF THE RAM AND GOAT NATIONS (Chap. 8)
IX. DANIEL'S VISION OF THE SEVENTY WEEKS OF GENTILE SUPREMACY (Chap. 9)
X. VISION OF GOD'S GLORY INTRODUCING OUTLINE OF COMING EVENTS (Chap. 10)
XI. PROPHECIES OF THE IMMEDIATE FUTURE (11:1-35)
A. Greece's Conquest of Medo-Persia (11:1-3)
B. The Decay of the Grecian Empire (11:4-35)
1. The Wars Between Egypt and Syria (11:4-20)
2. The Reign of Wicked Antiochus Epiphanes (11:21-35)
XII. PROPHECIES OF THE DISTANT FUTURE (11:36–12:13)
A. The Antichrist (11:36-45)
B. The Great Tribulation (Chap. 12)

Very eye opening book, can teach you things on several different levels. You can learn from Daniels own experience how people will treat people who believe, you can see and relate to the distress he experiences, and you can use the prophecy to better understand revelations. So rich of things you can learn if you study that you can spend weeks on it and not find all the gems there.

What a god-fearing faithful man, who at a very young age was taken from his family into a strange land with different Gods. He was brought before the king, he foretold dreams and prophesies. He foretold who the world powers would be up until our day. We can see how his God Jehovah always protected him and he was even put in high position to the king.

Would love to meet the man!

Clearly not written by Daniel. Historical errors in the narrative suggest it was written several hundreds years after the alleged events.

What about it? Daniel is also known as "Revelations" of the Old Testament

That it's an incredible book....best read in conjunction with Revelation as they talk about the same things.

I think it is a book that holds a prophecy to which we ought to pay close attention. Particularly, since it is unfolding in our day.

It was a good show. I wish they hadn't cancelled it. Aiden Quinn was perfect as Daniel.

I think a good portion of it was meant NOT to be understood at the time .....only centuries later, like our day.
