i already told his friend that i kinda like him
my friend asked him if he likes me and she told me kinda and kinds not so wat can i do to keep him my friend but not hurt his feelings?

Tell him very easily and be extremely nice about but try not to be blunt and mean about it. Be passionate and sweet about it and show sensitivity and make sure he understands.

You can't do anything but hurt his feelings so get over it. He is your friend only because you wants more than friendship. Otherwise he wouldn't be your friend.
